#3. The coaches need to prove they can make good situational football decisions

The coaching staff needs to prove they have the ability to make good situational decisions, as well as good in-game adjustments to account for unforeseen changes in the contest.

This is the key thing I am most skeptical about.

Of all the things the coaching staff has been accused of, from relying too much on talent or being too conservative, situational football is the only issue they can be held 100% accountable for. It is also the only issue that reappears every year under Jason Garrett.

While you can argue that the front office hasn’t always supplied the staff with the necessary talent or the personnel restricted certain facets of the gameplan. you cannot argue that failing to run Elliott once in the redzone or refusing to give Chaz Green help was anyone else’s fault.

Too often does the coaching staff make overwhelmingly questionable decisions in key moments that end up costing the team the game. This is extremely worrisome because it is not usually something a coach can just pick up.

Even amazing play-callers like Andy Reid have continually been victim to their own situational issues and it shows in their career playoff records. It is those calls that win or lose big games against teams with similar talent.

If the coaching staff can address all three of these issues in 2018, the Dallas Cowboys will have a bright future. And while I believe in their ability to prove keys one and two, it is the third and final key that will be the most important for the team to reach the pinnacles of success.
