#2 – December 24, 2017: Seattle eliminates the Cowboys from playoff contention

One would think that a team playing for the playoff life and getting their best player back in the mix would show some inspiration. I guess that’s what you get for trying to apply logic to the 2017 Dallas Cowboys season.

Instead this game was yet another in a long line of repetitive, annoying displays of football. Struggle to score. Check. Failure as it pertains to holding a half time lead. Check.

As an added bonus, the defense held Seattle to 136 total yards, gave up just two scores, one on a short field and Dallas still found a way to lose.

That stat, along with the stakes being played for, vaulted this game to the position of second worst loss of the season. After watching this debacle, the take away was not so much that Seattle is better than Dallas. The fact is that they just have better coaching.

Down 21-12, the Cowboys were on the doorstep of closing the gap. On first down from the three yard line, instead of using Elliott to pound the ball into the end zone, Dallas chose to get cute. Three plays and -21 yards later, the Cowboys were lining up for a field goal in lieu of an extra point.

Losing to the Seahawks because we chose to make Zeke a decoy is incredibly ironic. While we’re on the topic of how coaching can send a season into the garbage, I bring to you the worst loss of 2017…
