Nick Folk Released; Cowboys Snag Shaun Suisham

The Dallas Cowboys released embattled field goal kicker Nick Folk, one day after he missed a 23-yard field goal and almost cost the Cowboys the 24-17 victory over the Saints. The Cowboys quickly signed Shaun Suisham, who ironically was released by the Redskins after he missed a 23-yard field goal.

Signing Suisham does not come as a surprise. He had a stellar percentage of field goals made before he missed that 23-yarder against the Saints.

The Cowboys release a popular field goal kicker, who in his rookie year made the Pro Bowl. He was selected in the sixth round out of the University of Arizona, where he kicked a 52-yarder against USC. He also broke a Cowboys record for most points in a season, with 131. He beat his all-time record when he booted a 53-yard field goal TWICE against the Buffalo Bills in a miraculous comeback game. From there, many fans thought they finally had a field goal kicker after a decade of no-names and wannabes.

Nick Folk was the real deal. But he had hip surgery over the break, and he obviously did not return the same. Hopefully, he can return to the NFL. Unfortunately, the Cowboys decided not to put him on IR.
