Dez Bryant did not show up to Valley Ranch on Friday, despite telling owner Jerry Jones he would. Jerry Jones was asked about this before the draft on Friday and he confirmed that he did in fact not talk to Bryant. The Cowboys were hoping Bryant would make an appearance to discuss his off the field issues and to have his surgically repaired ankle looked at by team trainers.

This is not a good for Dez, when you tell the owner your coming you show up! Many players were at Valley Ranch today as facilities were open to the players. Bryant has proven once again by not showing up that he has not learned from his off the field issues how to be more mature. Cowboys fans should be a little worried about this, cause I sure am.

Von Miller is scheduled to meet with the Dallas Cowboys at Valley Ranch on April 15th. Miller an outside linebacker from Texas A&M is projected to go in the top 5, however the Cowboys are still going to take a look at him even though they hold the number 9 pick in the draft. Miller will visit Valley Ranch on Dallas Day, Dez Bryant attended Dallas Day last year.

The Cowboys are also looking at talking to Tyron Smith and cornerback Prince Amukamara who have both been projected as a pick for the Cowboys. Neither meeting as been finalized yet. The Cowboys will be allowed to hold meeting with at least 30 players from out of the area. This is where Smith and Amukamara come into play.

In yet another impressive move by interim coach Jason Garrett, the Dallas Cowboys have brought the recognition of “Game Balls” and “Atta Boys” back to Valley Ranch. Former head coach Wade Phillips would announce the winners of game balls at the post-game press conferences during his first year as head coach, but as ESPN Dallas stated, “it was quickly dismissed as high schoolish to talk about who played well especially after a loss.”

Now Jason Garrett has brought the awards back, but instead of announcing the winners at a press conference there is a big sign outside of the locker room. This week’s game balls were awarded to three players and one coach — Jon Kitna, Bryan McCann, Mat McBriar, and defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni.

The “Atta Boy” recipients were: Miles Austin, Alan Ball, Dez Bryant, Felix Jones, Stephen Bowen, Gerald Sensabaugh, Orlando Scandrick, Andre Gurode and Bradie James. The Special Teams Atta Boy is Sean Lee and the Scout Team Player of the Week is Manuel Johnson.

It’s great to see players and coaches once again being given credit for their good performances. One has to appreciate the way things are turning around in Dallas in the Jason Garrett era.
