(AP Photo/Tony Gutierrez)

Tashard is a decent running back, but he’s not special. He has nice vision, can break some tackles, and is serviceable in pass protection. However, he’s an awful special teams player, providing the Cowboys with absolutely nothing in that department. If he were their featured back, that wouldn’t be a problem. But, Choice is a role player and the fact that he can’t do anything besides be a second string tailback causes a bit of a vacuum on the Cowboys’ roster.

Right now, Choice is on the sidelines with a calf strain and DeMarco Murray is out with a hamstring issue. In step Lonyae Miller. If Miller’s name sounds vaguely familiar that’s because he played in five games last year, all on special teams. You may also remember when he recovered a Bryan McCann fumble against the Colts. So far in training camp, Miller has made quite an impression. He’s a big, powerful running back with respectable speed and he runs hard.

Miller is an intriguing player. The Cowboys signed him in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State. He saw very little playing time at Fresno as he was behind Ryan Matthews. But, the Cowboys might have found a diamond in the rough. He battled his way onto the practice squad last year and eventually ended up on the active roster, making plays on special teams. To keep him around like that, the Cowboys must have seen something in Miller. (more…)

Don't do anything he wouldn't do.

Here is to a happy, safe, and fun July 4th for everyone! I can’t speak for the rest of the state, but if you are in West Texas, it’s probably not a good idea to be shooting off fireworks today. But, if you must, please do your best to avoid burning down half the state. Anyway, I have some links for you.

Todd Archer takes a look at the lock-out’s toll on the Cowboys quarterbacks. I’ve been heading up this site for a day and I’m already annoyed about the questions over Romo’s leadership.

On Friday, Dan Graziano asked which was the NFC East’s best rivalry. Naturally, the top three options involve the Cowboys. I think that says it all.

Jerry Jones’ home is not one of the ten most expensive in Dallas. First of all, I’m calling BS. Last time I checked, he just built the biggest, most expensive house in the world. Secondly, does it surprise anyone that Tom Hicks heads up this list? Mr. Over-Leveraged himself.

The ‘Boys set tentative dates for training camp. Is this a positive sign, or is this just the team making sure they aren’t caught with their pants down?

With training camp just around the corner and negotiations teetering on the brink of a break through, the NFLPA and the owners decided to take a break for the week. I suppose everyone deserves a vacation, but I would think this seriously jeopardizes any chance of the training camp starting at the end of the month. (more…)
