Written by theMBIIIeffect

There’s one pretty quoteable stat that even Redskins fans seem able to remember-that the Cowboys hadn’t won a playoff game since 1996.

Thankfully, that ended this season.

Still, Skins fans seem to come at us with this accusation that we haven’t had success in the playoffs.

My friends, feast your eyes on these records.

The Skins have won a grand total of 3 playoff games since 1992, when the Cowboys won their first of three Super Bowls in the early 90′s. They’ve only made the playoffs four times since the ’92 season. During that time, the Cowboys have won three Super Bowls.

Yes, the Cowboys have had a bad record in the playoffs in recent memory. That has left a bitter taste in the mouths of fans.

But let me ask you this: is it better to go to the playoffs and lose or just not go at all?

Skins fans, don’t come at me with anything about draft picks. You’ve made bad choices with your higher picks (thanks for letting DeMarcus Ware slip to us in 2005-how’s Carlos Rogers working out?). How did any of those guys you drafted with higher picks* help you out this year?

You weren’t invited to the dance, so you sat home and you were bitter. We were at least among the 12 best teams in the league that year.

I just want this argument gone. It’s not a particularly bright one on the behalf of the Skins fans because their teams haven’t been good enough to even make the playoffs. I don’t want to be nasty, but it’s just not a sound argument. But in recent years, you haven’t had any success to talk about either.

At least we deserved to be there.

*I left out Sean Taylor in my consideration of players that would have helped this season for obvious reasons. I haven’t forgotten him and it’s still a shame what happened to him. I’m glad that Skins fans are remembering him right.

If it weren’t bad enough the NFL released that shoddy opening games schedule, they really hit the jackpot with this stupid compensatory picks allotment. I mean, this is ridiculous. What is most ridiculous is the Washington PiecesofCrapskins get the first pick of the third round, the 96th pick overall.

FOR WHAT?

Don’t you dare come over here with your crap about Sean Taylor, because I am over it, and you should get over it. NO TEAM that was so far below the salary cap as the Redskins should be given any damn pick, especially the 96th overall. The Redskins signed a bunch of players last year, none of whom played well, and they still get a pick? The Redskins signed no one this offseason because they have no cap room, yet they get a free pick? WAIT!!! NOT JUST ONE PICK. THE PIECESOFCRAPSKINS get 3 free picks. YES, THREE!!!

This is a damn scam. There is nothing more annoying than freebies to a team like the PiecesofCrapskins. All of the other big Cowboys blogs will report this as drab news and won’t have the balls to criticize this stupid compensatory picks scheme. But then I looked at the two other top Cowboys blogs and none had even a word about this, another reason why this is by far the best Dallas Cowboys blog on the planet.

I’m afraid of no one. Nothing. Bring it. No Redskins fans will be allowed to comment on this post. I will moderate every Redskins fan who tries to comment on this post. You just stay away tonight.

Total 2008 NFL compensatory draft picks

Baltimore 4, Miami 2, Cincinnati 4, Atlanta 1, Chicago 3, Green Bay 1, Indianapolis 3, N.Y. Giants 1, Philadelphia 3 , St. Louis 1 Washington 3, San Diego 1, Buffalo 2, Tennessee 1, Carolina 2:

Total: 32

The biggest, most glaring weakness for the Dallas Cowboys is no doubt the secondary. But I am hoping the Cowboys can fill these holes in free agency instead of the draft. I have the Cowboys picking a wide receiver and a running back with those first round picks. I think Roy Williams MUST be traded. Who needs a Pro Bowl safety, I am not sure. Would the Washington Redskins be interested in him after the death of Sean Taylor? At this moment, I’d take a third round pick for him.

Here is the cream of the crop:

Asante Samuel, UFA, New England Patriots
Samuel posted a league-best 10 interceptions last season. He has followed it up with six interceptions this season. He’s shutdown quality receivers, helping the Patriots to an undefeated record. If Samuel is not signed to an extension, he’ll command big dollars on the market. Dallas could pay him. I am sure we regret signing Patrick Crayton right now to free up some money, but Samuel would be such an amazing grab…how it would happen, I have no idea.

Mike Doss, UFA, Minnesota Vikings
Doss, the former Colts safety has a new home, hasn’t played well enough to earn a starting role and has been on the field during just eight games. Doss recorded a pair of interceptions in just six games during the ’06 season, and had two picks each of the three seasons prior to ‘07.

Domonique Foxworth, RFA, Denver Broncos
Foxworth is used mainly as a nickel defender. His RFA status will make it difficult to pull him away from the Broncos.

Drayton Florence, UFA, San Diego Chargers
Florence held onto his starting spot over Antonio Cromartie when it was thought that Cromartie would win the job early. Cromartie will probably be the starter next season. Florence is not a shutdown type of player, but he does make plays when he needs to.

Randall Gay UFA New England Patriots
Gay is just 25, and he’s been able to post solid numbers, while also showing consistency. He has registered 37 total tackles to go along with three interceptions.

Marcus Trufant, UFA, Seattle Seahawks
Trufant’s contract has voided based on playing time and given the team’s commitment to other players at his position, it appears that the cornerback will be looking elsewhere. His 2004 season was easily his best, when he compiled 96 total tackles, five interceptions, and a sack. He has 77 total tackles and seven interceptions this year. He will be one of the top defensive targets on the market. I really like Trufant and he may command less money. He very well may be a Cowboy next year and reunite with former teammate Ken Hamlin.
