This week, we asked our experts for their predictions for Sunday night’s game between our Cowboys and the Washington Redskins.

Tammy Garrett, Staff Writer: Looks like it’s same time next year as the Dallas Cowboys once again face a win or go home against an NFC East rival. Last year it was the G Men and in 2008 it was the Philadelphia Eagles: both with the same painful result. This time around I’m taking the Cowboys to silence their critics and come out of FedEx Field with a win. Cowboys 28, Redskins 27.

Michael Huff, Staff Writer: Cowboys get the running game going with DeMarco Murray to win time of possession battle and the game. Cowboys win 34-31.

John Lavin, Staff Writer: Tony Romo and Dez Bryant lead the Cowboys to an unlikely victory over the Redskins. Dez Bryant continues his consecutive touchdown streak for another week, while Romo stays hot and effectively spreads the ball around to 6 different receivers. The Dallas defense plays better than expected in a close one. Dallas 23, Washington 20.

Mike Burke, Staff Writer: Dallas is 9-6 all time at Fed Ex Field. Twenty previous times the Redskins have won the first game in the season series. Only four times have they ever completed the sweep. Five Cowboys Offensive starters who missed the Thanksgiving Day game are going to suit up for Sunday’s finale. Dallas 31, Redskins, 20.

Michael Vu, Staff Writer: The Redskins will puncture a hole in the Cowboy heart. It will hurt. Do the Cardiac Cowboys have enough stamina to survive? My heart says yes; my mind says no. Cowboys lose a heart-breaker, 31-27.

Artie Cappello, Senior Writer: A rivalry has been renewed in what amounts to the first playoff game of 2012 season. Dallas has to score in the 30′s to have a chance to win this game, so lets predict it that way. Dallas 34 – Washington 31.

Mark Lane, Senior Writer - Cowboys complete the trifecta and lose a season finale in a “win to get in” situation on the road to an NFC East opponent. The slippery field makes Pierre Garcon evasive for Cowboys corners. Griffin’s knee looks fine as he eludes Cowboys rushers to find wide open receivers, and Alfred Morris pounds for yards and points. Garrett abandons the run and forces Romo to pass 50 times, resulting in an inevitable pick that slobbering, lumbering, dunderheaded Romophobes pick out as the reason the Cowboys lost the game. Redskins prevail 37-21.

Jeff Magnia, Staff Writer: This game is going to go in one of two ways. RG3 plays like he is a 100% and Dallas cannot contain him all game long. Or he plays mediocre and the Dallas offense commits no turnovers. If RG3 shows up, Dallas will not have a chance and will lose 28-10 or they come out and have the game of their lives. I am banking on the latter. Cowboys 27-21.

Dec 16, 2012; Arlington, TX, USA; Dallas Cowboys fan Marshall Keisling (age 9) cheers for his team during the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Cowboys Stadium.
Tammy Garrett, Staff Writer: The New Orleans Saints hung 41 on theTampa Bay Bucs last Sunday and that could spell trouble for the injury plagued Dallas defense. On a positive note, though, the Cowboys responded well in the clutch against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a game defining interception return in OT that gave Cowboys Nation hope that our ‘Boys can slow down the Saints high powered offense. I’ll take the Cowboys to keep pace in the NFC East with a big win at home. Cowboys 28, Saints 21.

Jeff Federspiel, Staff Writer: The Cowboys try to continue their path toward the postseason, and while this game isn’t definitively a make-or-break game statistically, it would be foolish to suggest that a loss against the Saints would be anything but a letdown and would surely serve to let some of the air out of the Cowboys’ hope balloon. In the end, staying true to recent fashion, the Cowboys do just enough to squeak out another victory and put both the Giants and Redskins on notice in the race for the NFC East division crown. Cowboys 34, Saints 31.

Michael Vu, Staff Writer: Prepare for landing. This game will be another big test. When this game ends, I think we’ll know who this team is. Hopefully. Mediocre Cowboys? How about Magical Cowboys. 27-17.

Todd Toombs, Senior Writer: The danger in this game is that almost everyone is expecting the Cowboys to beat the Saints and is already anticipating a huge season-ending game against the Redskins. The team had better not look past this game. The Saints may be 6-8 but they just destroyed Tampa Bay. I see a high scoring game where both defenses struggle. I’m very nervous about this game but am hoping the Cowboys claw out another late victory. Cowboys 38, Saints 33.

Brad Austin, Senior Writer: Welcome to DeMarco Murray’s 2012 Early Christmas Party. For the first time since Week 1, Murray will exceed the century mark in rushing yards. The Saints’ porous run defense allows a whopping 146 rushing yards per game and 5 yards per carry, just what Dr. Murray ordered. Since becoming the starter in 2011, the Cowboys are a perfect 4-0 when DeMarco exceeds 100 yards, with an average winning margin of 20 points. The hobbled Dallas defense will allow Drew Brees and the Saints’ prolific offense to keep pace, yet Murray will carry the day and keep the Cowboys’ playoff hopes alive and well into the final week. Cowboys 34, Saints 31.

John Lavin, Staff Writer: Both defenses struggle in this game. Dallas’s offense controls the clock by using a heavy dose of Running Back, DeMarco Murray who gains well over a 100 yards rushing. In the end Dallas’s defense is slightly better in a shootout. Cowboys 34, Saints 28.

Michael Huff, Staff Writer: Cowboys makeshift defense is challenged by the Saints high flying offense,<var id="yui-ie-cursor"></var> but the Cowboys prevail, 35-31.

Mike Burke, Staff Writer: The New Orleans Saints are an awful road team. They are 2-5 on the road and the 2 wins are Oakland and Tampa Bay before they got their bearings on the season and what Greg Schiano wants. This one is supposed to be an Offensive shootout because of the Saints Offense and their Defense who can’t stop anyone. That is why I look for a low scoring Defensive slug fest. Cowboys 21-17.

Tyrone Starr, Staff Writer: I just cannot see how there is any possibility in a low scoring game breaking out at Cowboys Stadium. The Saints are highly ranked in so many offensive categories as are the Cowboys. Both teams have had issues with turnovers which, as we all know, generally leads to points. Both teams have banged up or ineffective defenses. All in all, the Saints have been on and off while the Cowboys have been as hot as it gets since Thanksgiving. Saints 31, Cowboys 37.

Jonathan Barger, Senior Writer: Cowboys will continue to roll and show discipline in yet another close game. In a shootout between Romo and Brees, DeMarco Murray will be the determining factor as the Cowboys will kill the clock with some four-minute offense. Cowboys advance with playoff hopes in the fate of the game on Dec 30th. Cowboys 31, Saints 27.

Artie Cappello, Senior Writer: I have mixed emotions going into this game. On one hand, the Cowboys need to beat the Saints – and can beat the Saints – to stay on track for the playoffs. On the other, losing to the Saints means I’m closer to possibly stealing their coach, Sean Payton for our very own. You know if we win out, Garrett isn’t going anywhere. So, it’s not so much ‘GO COWBOYS!’, as it is ‘go cowboys.’ Oh, hell… Lets make it a statement game ‘Boys! Dallas 31, New Orleans 7.

Every week of the NFL regular season, we ask all of The Landry Hat writers and contributors to submit their picks and predictions for the upcoming Dallas Cowboy game. This week, we asked our experts for their predictions for tonight’s game between our Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nov 11, 2012; Philadelphia, PA, USA; Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (9) under center Ryan Cook (63) during the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The Cowboys defeated the Eagles 38-23. Mandatory Credit: Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Steven Mullenax, Editor & Head Writer: The return of DeMarco Murray should mark the return of a more constant and balanced offense. If not for the overall poor play of the Eagles in the last few weeks, I would be concerned with the various injuries on the Cowboys’ defensive side of the ball. But Philly is ravaged with inconsistency and injuries as well, so I see this as a blowout win for Dallas in a laugher. Cowboys 34, Eagles 16.

Jeff Federspiel, Staff Writer: The end of the Andy Reid era is fast approaching in Philadelphia and the Eagles are beginning to close shop, though someone forgot to tell Bryce Brown. Despite Mr. Brown’s sudden emergence, the injury plagued Cowboys’ defense finds a way to just barely contain this offensive (ha) juggernaut. Tony Romo throws the ball for 50+ times for the win and Cowboys fans have their hope reignited for the week. Cowboys 27, Eagles 17.

Michael Huff, Staff Writer: Cowboys continue to struggle on offense, but the defense plays well enough to win 17-13.

Todd Toombs, Senior Writer: Looks right now like the Cowboys could get some starters back on the field for this game – center Ryan Cook and running back DeMarco Murray to name just two key ones. Everything on paper looks like it skews heavily towards a Cowboys win. Which is precisely the type of game the Cowboys have struggled to win under Garrett. The Eagles are reeling but still have enough weapons to win if the Cowboys mail it in. Could this be the beginning of a major run toward the playoffs and a return to the Super Bowl like the Giants (twice) and Packers have pulled off the last few years? We’ll see. It starts with this game. Would be nice to see the Cowboys put together a crushing blowout, but I have it Cowboys 21, Eagles 17.

Jeff Magnia, Staff Writer: This should be a good game between these two teams. The problem is that Dallas has played poorly against teams with records worse than theirs. The positive about this is that the Eagles may have a better running game, but their leading scorer in the rushing department has 2 scores for the season. Cowboys should win this game in an easy matchup if they can get the mindset that the Eagles are 8-3 instead of 3-8. Dallas wins this game 24-20.

Artie Cappello, Senior Writer: Can most of us agree that the ‘Iggles’ is the most hated team for Cowboys fans? Lets hope that this means that the Cowboys home team cheers will be louder than the visitors cheers for once. While we are at it, I think the Cowboys should practice on the Cowboys Stadium field every week. We need to do something to re-establish some semblance of a home field advantage. That being said, I don’t think we’ll need it this week. Cowboys 31- Iggles 23.

Brad Austin, Senior Writer: Dallas won the first match-up by 15 points, yet scored all 3 of their season’s non-offensive TD’s in that game. If you erase Dwayne Harris’ punt return TD and the closing seconds fumble recovery TD by Jason Hatcher, this was a one-point ballgame. That being said, the Eagles offense is in complete disarray and in even worse shape than the first meeting. Along with starters missing at QB, RB, C, and both OT’s, Philadelphia is now without top deep threat DeSean Jackson and even their back-up center (replacement has yet to play this year). Unlike the first go-round, Philadelphia has no chance at the playoffs and Morris Claiborne is out for blood. Dallas wins, but this team is not capable of domination. Cowboys 23, Eagles 16.
