First Look: NFL Releases Dallas Cowboys 2013 Schedule

The NFL has released the schedule for every team including the Dallas Cowboys. We already knew which teams the Cowboys would face next season, for the most part.

Outside of the obvious NFC foes (Washington Redskins, New York Giants, and the Philadelphia Eagles), Dallas will also match up against the NFC South and AFC North. These teams include the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Keep in mind that the NFL uses a rotating schedule. That means that 14 of the Cowboys’ 16 opponents are determined in advance, regardless of what the team’s record is the previous year. The other two games were determined based on record, which were the St. Louis Rams and New Orleans Saints.

Dallas Cowboys 2012 Schedule Released

The NFL teased it’s new 2012 schedule by announcing that it’s season opening game would be our beloved Dallas Cowboys against the defending world champion New York Giants in the Meadowlands on a Wednesday night. (September 5th) But they held the official announcement of the rest of the schedule until Tuesday night.

At long last, here is the Dallas Cowboys’ schedule for the upcoming 2012-13 NFL season:

Week Two: Sunday, Sept. 16th - Cowboys @ Seahawks

Week Three: Sunday, Sept. 23rd – Bucs @ Cowboys

Third Place Schedule in 2012 to Provide Little Solace for Cowboy Fans

In the span of one afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys lost a playoff birth, a division championship, and a little bit of pride. However, there is the smallest amount of solace disheartened Cowboys fans can take from the loss. Rather than playing a first place schedule in 2012, the Cowboys will now play a third place schedule. The Philadelphia Eagles also finished 8-8 and owned the tie breaker over the Cowboys due to sweeping the regular season series with the ‘boys.

In 2012, the Cowboys will play 6 division games against the NFC East (Redskins, Eagles, & Giants). They will also play the NFC South (Falcons, Saints, Buccaneers, & Panthers) and AFC North (Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, & Browns) as will the remainder of the NFC East. The schedule is a bit more forgiving to the Cowboys as they will play the respective 3rd place teams from the NFC West (Seahawks) and NFC North (Bears). (more…)
