]]> The NFL Preseason is done and the Dallas Cowboys now have one thing to focus on. There is only one team on the horizon and that my friends is the dreaded New York Giants. I don’t want to rub it in, but they are the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. Ouch right? This is one match-up that is going to test the ‘Boys right out of the gate. Some go as far as to say the Cowboys’ season hinges on this one game. I wouldn’t go that far, but I would go as far as to say that if they do not have a good showing Wednesday night, the next  six weeks or so may be a rocky stretch.

]]> The NFL announced its kickoff schedule for the first weekend of football and, I am sorry, but they are the worst selection of games they could ever possibly pick.

First of all, how can they omit the Dallas Cowboys, the most-watched football team in America,  from this first weekend of football? It makes no sense at all.

But to make matters worse, the first game we have to watch on Sept. 4 for the season opener is the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. Really? Is the NFL serious?  The other games in the Sunday night prime-time slot is the Indianapolis Colts hosting the Chicago Bears in a yawner. There will also be a Monday-night double header of a Brett Favre-less Green Bay Packers hosting the Minnesota Vikings in the earlier matchup, and then the Oakland Raiders hosting the Denver Broncos.

These are the crappiest sets of games I have seen in quite a long time. If this is the NFL’s way of trying to excite us fans they need a lesson in scheduling good games. This is pure crap. The Raiders and Broncos interest no one anymore. The Packers and Vikings interest no one because Favre is gone. And although the Giants and Redskins game has some value, it’s still a terrible opener.

The Landry Hat demands the NFL change this lineup.
