I came up with this week’s poll question while perusing the comments on the official Cowboys site. Before I started writing for The Landry Hat, I spent at least every lunch hour searching the web for Cowboys stuff (even during the off-season), but I stopped reading the comments left by readers long ago.

If I try to explain why I refused to read the comments left by readers, you would probably stop reading sometime before my rant turned into an all-out diatribe. Anyway, now that I write at TLH, I have started reading the comments.

My first impression is a shocking disbelief that most fans are so confident in their assumption that they know exactly what the Cowboys need to do, and should have done, in every situation. Many fans don’t hesitate before telling well-paid professionals that they are idiots and the fan is so much more astute.  I am not saying that we shouldn’t second guess the professionals, just that I was surprised at the lack of respect they receive.

So, here is your chance to expound on your infinite football wisdom and enlighten the rest of us by explaining just how you would fix the Cowboys:

In news that will surprise no one, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to introduce Jason Garrett as the team’s next head coach later today. Jerry Jones said that a press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, and that presser will likely bring good news to Garrett.

“I’m really pleased with how this has turned out, frankly, relative to these last eight ball games. I’m proud we’ve had the success we’ve had. It’s better than it could have been,” Jerry Jones said. “I think we’ll have a lot of this done by the afternoon. We probably won’t really be ready to talk about this until tomorrow.”

The only person interviewed for the job other than Garrett was receivers coach Ray Sherman — to satisfy the Rooney Rule — and Miami Dolphins assistant head coach Todd Bowles, who could end up as the team’s defensive coordinator. Stay tuned tomorrow for the big — but expected — news.

During a time where the his team is off to one of the most disappointing seasons in their history, Jerry Jones is taking out his frustration and embarrassment the way all men do… a trip to Vegas! Wait… what?!

Yes, that is right. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones can’t put together a winning team, but he can hit up the night clubs and he apparently knows how to party. Jones was caught partying with his Super Bowl ring on — better than with his pants down — with some young ladies at the Lavo nightclub in the Venetian Hotel.

I guess you can’t really blame Jerry. He could be in Dallas with new head coach Jason Garrett attempting to iron out issues, but who wants that on their plate. Afterall, people do say Jerry needs to take a back seat and let the football guys have more control.
