Finally, the day is upon us Dallas Cowboys’ fans. After months of speculation and many weekly TLH Mock drafts, the first night of the 2013 NFL Draft is here. To mark the occasion, every editor from our 32 FanSided NFL fan sites participated in a first round Mock Draft, all representing their respective teams in their own personal draft war rooms. On top of their selections and explanations, the National Football Post also provided analysis of each pick via their draft expert, Russ Lande.

With the 18th pick in the 2013 FanSided NFL Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select…

Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina

Steven Mullenax, Landry Hat Editor: The Dallas Cowboys are rumored to like 15 different players in the first round of the NFL draft. It will be a tough choice if Cooper, D.J. Fluker and Tavon Austin are all still on the board at No. 18. But the Cowboys’ need on the interior of their young offensive line combined with the talent rating of Cooper should be too much for Dallas to ignore. Plus, they just locked up quarterback Tony Romo for $108 million and they need to protect their investment.

Russ Lande: The Cowboys have a surprising number of needs and upgrading their offensive line is a big one. Jon Cooper is an athletic guard who is very productive blocking in-line and out in space. He would start from Day 1 and provide an immediate upgrade for their offensive line.

Chad Johnson is the most overrated receiver in the NFL, a guy who has never helped his team reach great success, and how he is one who supports illegal activity. Matt Bowen, a former NFL safety, launches a verbal attack on Ocho Cinco for the National Football Post.

Bowen refers to a Cincinnati Enquier article in which Ocho Cinco makes wild comments.

Think about this: You remember our ’05 season, right? … Our ’05 season is the year everybody went to jail and got arrested. That year everybody got in trouble. So maybe the bad (was) a good thing: It sounds dumb to say, but look at it. We have cleaned house and nobody is getting in trouble anymore, no DUIs, no arrests, now we’re getting our (butt) whooped. Maybe I don’t know – maybe I should go out, have a drink, get in trouble. I don’t know what it is. Our ’05 was one of the best years here in history. It was one of those years where there (were) a lot of distractions.”

How does Bowen take these comments? Not lightly.

Bottom line: the Bengals have turned into a disaster. Chad Johnson can talk about this and that, promote himself in an ignorant way, and still go out there and lay an egg with the rest of his teammates. We all know why you held a press conference in front of your locker. It is no different than the ones we here from T.O. and Joey Porter. You do it to get your name in the paper, because you and your teammates defently haven’t warranted the space. In reality, the Bengals can’t run the football and might need to go into Texas Stadium without Carson Palmer again– and come home with another loss. Some say that talk is cheap, and I sometimes agree with that (it does add something to games), but when you go on a rant, drop F-bombs, and talk about bringing back guys who have single handedly sent the Bengals’ franchise to the lowest point in pro sports I have to give my opinion.

Bowen is obvsiously irritated with Ocho Cinco’s comments. Fans are sick and tired of the Bengals organization. Now 0-4, there’s no hope for that organization or that team. When they had the opportunity to trade the embattled receiver, they balked and kept him. Now he is having one of his worst seasons ever. Bowen says he’ll never write about Ocho Cinco again.

To be honest, it bothers me to even write about this guy, but I think it is proper that I always give my own opinion on relevant NFL news (I think this is relevant, right?). However, I feel like I am reading The National Enquirer whenever I hear nonsense like this. So, in saying that, congrats to Chad Johnson, you did just enough, said just enough shocking and ludicrous things to get into my blog, but I am officially done writing about you.
