When you look at career stats and player development, there are some very tight parallels with the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys; however, the Saints are having great success and the Cowboys are struggling.

Drew Brees and Tony Romo have very similar statistics in passing, touchdowns, and even success.

You’ve got a young, no-name wide receiver Marcus Colston who comes on the scene and explodes. Although Colston did it pretty quickly, the Cowboys are also seeing a no-name kind of guy reach higher levels, and that’s with Miles Austin.

The Saints have a utility runner named Reggie Bush.

The Cowboys have a guy named Felix Jones.

In a way, the Saints do seem like a splitting image of the Cowboys.

Saints are 13-0.

Cowboys are 8-5.

What’s the difference?

Wade Phillips.

Sean Payton.

Honestly, if I were a betting man, I would put my money on the Cowboys. I would not be surprised to see the Cowboys win tomorrow night. They are playing themselves, and they can beat themselves.

We’ve seen was 13-0 records mean in the NFL. We’ve seen what 13-3 means, too. This is not something the Cowboys have not dealt with before.

If the Cowboys do make the playoffs, we know that it’s a whole new season, and an entirely different ball game.

But they have to beat the Saints.
