Newly acquired defensive line coach Leon Lett has asked Dallas Cowboy’s owner, Jerry Jones, to move the defensive mini-camp to snow-covered Alaska. For those old school Dallas Cowboy fans, we all remember the Thanksgiving 1993 game versus the Miami Dolphins. And we all cringe when we think of Lett touching the ball, slipping on the ice/snow covered ground and Miami won on a second chance field goal. To prevent this from happening again, and to get the defense in cold weather training for the long haul this upcoming season, Lett has decided mini camp in Alaska would do the defense well.

It seems like almost four score and 65 years in the past that Abe Lincoln won the Civil War with his beard (and fought Chuck Norris in an epic rap battle), and the Giants won the Superbowl. With the black hole of NFL news called February, I have turned to mindless searches of YouTube, purchased countless items off the Internet, and even read a book. But now, we see the light at the end of the tunnel. 2012 draft eligible players are flooding into Indianapolis to showcase their physically prowess, football ability, and football IQ.

I started the ‘Words for Success’ this past year, right after the Dallas Cowboys surrendered a 24 point lead to the Detroit Lions. I was at that game; my bachelor party in fact. And I was too many Miller Lites deep to see the impending doom. I watched the victory pigskin sail just short of Jason Witten’s hands to seal the game. The ride home was miserable for everyone; the the gears in my mind turned and I created the Words For Success.

The Snickers people, in addition to creating delicious candy bars, are apparently in the business of redemption. They took it upon themselves to start an online movement to officially put an end to any resentment that people may hold for Mr. Leon Lett due to the infamous blunder that he committed against the Miami Dolphins on that fateful Thanksgiving day. They asked me to document the final chapter of the “Man Who Played Literally Hungry” redemption plan.

The story of the blunder can be seen here:

I wanted to interview Leon Lett and experience the end to so many grudges, but this was Thanksgiving! Should I really make the trip to Cowboy Stadium? Well, 80% of my family are UFC fighters, and holidays are usually one big battle royale, so I wasn’t going to miss the family aspect of the holiday. And I’ve never really enjoyed turkey, because of those things that hang off of their chins. Not for me. So I decided that I would make the journey to Arlington and take part in Leon Lett’s climactic ending to the “Man Who Played Literally Hungry” saga. (more…)
