Written by theMBIIIeffect

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Len Pasquarelli, the Oakland Raiders are willing to part with cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in exchange for quarterback Donovan McNabb. Check out these two tweets from Schefter:

ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports Oakland is willing to part with CB Nnamdi Asomugha in exchange for Donovan McNabb – but Eagles reluctant.

Remember: Asomugha’s contract is a burden. It has one year, $16 million left and strong provisions preventing him from being franchised.

Schefter went on to tweet that McNabb preferred Minnesota over Oakland as well as Buffalo, but the Eagles would probably rather go ahead and get their hands on Asomugha than honor McNabb’s wishes.

Let me be the first to say this: please, God, no. A million times, no.

Asomugha is as good a corner as there is in this league. Some might prefer Darrelle Revis to Asomugha, but Revis plays on a more talented defense. Put Asomugha among better defenders in Philly and the results could be shocking.

He failed to make much of an impact in the Raiders’ Thanksgiving Day loss to the Cowboys as Miles Austin and Jason Witten each had over 100 receiving yards and both Austin and Roy Williams had a touchdown grab. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was 18-of-29 for 309 yards and two scores on the day.

But Asomugha was on an island that day; not so much in protection, but as the only star on the Raiders’ defense.

I’d rather not have to see Asomugha twice a year as a part of the Eagles’ defense.

In an interesting aside, I wonder what the possibilities are for Terrell Owens joining McNabb in Oakland. That would be an interesting reunion, to say the least.
