This week’s poll is dedicated to Chris Cooley and his recent attempt to rekindle the Cowboys vs. Redskins rivalry.

As a Cowboy fan, I don’t just cheer for my team, I necessarily hate every other team. My loyalty to them is unwavering; my faith in them is beyond irrational. With the exception of long time greats like Dorsett, Emmitt, and LA, I won’t even allow myself to like ex-Cowboy players when they switch teams. I even hate rugby teams because they play a sport similar to football and they have no stars on their uniforms.

Despite my dislike for anything related to football that is not the Cowboys, there are some teams that I loathe more than others.

Truth be told, my animosity for some of the other NFL teams is, in reality, a compliment. There is no point hating teams that are terrible year in and year out.  So, yes, some of the teams made my list just because they are excellent teams.

On Friday, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com, released a Top Ten list of the best Cowboy players to never make a Pro-Bowl. It was a pretty cool piece, as are most of Phillips’ weekly Top Ten list. However, the part on Dennis Thurman really caught my attention because it referenced the worst game of Joe Theismann’s career. That day was September 9, 1985, and, as Phillips said, it was Joe’s thirty-sixth birthday.

I was four years old in 1985 so I can’t say for certain, but based on this performance and the fact that he suffered a career ending compound leg fracture in November, I’m going to guess that 1985 was probably the worst year of Theismann’s career. I certainly won’t celebrate Joe’s gruesome leg injury, but his five interception birthday game is a different story. Anytime we can reflect back on a Redskins quarterback tossing five picks against the Cowboys, we need to take advantage of that. Like Roy Williams said, there are some of us that are benefiting from this lock-out. If it weren’t for a total lack of news, I probably wouldn’t dedicate an entire post to the worst game of Theismann’s career. (more…)

I’ll tell you why: It is because the Cowboys are stacked and have the talent to win their record-breaking sixth Super Bowl.

The Landry Hat is picking the Dallas Cowboys to face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl.

So is Theismann.

Sports Illustrated columnist Peter King has the Cowboys going to the Super Bowl, with the Pats winning. King has the Cowboys squeaking by the Vikings in the NFC Championship game, and the Patriots squaking by the Jaguars in the AFC Championship game.
