When Tony Romo took over for Drew Bledsoe at half-time in October 2006, his first pass was intercepted. We in Cowboys Nation didn’t care, we were tired of Bledsoe. If you watched the game, the game was winnable until Tony’s third interception of the half. Again, and I think I speak for most Cowboys fans, we didn’t care. Tony Romo was new. We were asking for a changing of the guard and we got it.

It’s was OK that he was raw. He was also mobile, fun, and a gun slinger. Always had a smile on his face, our own Brett Favre. For older fans, he reminded us of Roger the Dodger, Roger Staubach. And Romo played well, the game wasn’t too big for the kid. We had found a worthy heir to the Dallas Cowboys QB Thrown. Staubach and Troy Aikman approved, so the bandwagon was quickly assembled and we all jumped on it. The media broke out the anointing oil despite coach Bill Parcells warning them to put it away.

The Cowboys made the playoffs that year, lead by our undrafted free agent out of AA Eastern Illinois. This was a Cinderella story in the making.

For those who care about this kind of stuff, starting quarterback Tony Romo has been making big moves off of the field while recovering from his broken collarbone. Romo is now an engaged man. Romo popped the question to 24-year-old Candice Crawford who is a sports reporter for KDAF-TV and the sister of an apparently famous actor named Chace.

One of Romo’s previous relationships gaine a lot of scrutiny among the fans and media. That was the attrocity named Jessica Simpson. Thankfully for everyone involved, Crawford covers the sport so should have some sense of knowledge and we shouldn’t be seeing her in the crowd sporting pink number 9 jerseys and cheering uncontrollably. Congrats, Mr. Romo… don’t make this Simpson Part II.

Perhaps Austin has a bigger role in the Cowboys championship pursuit than many the fans realize.

Earlier in the week, it was reported by the National Enquirer that Austin was scoring some touchdowns on Kardashian Field. What does that have to do with winning a championship? Hooking up with a Kardashian is the opposite of hooking up with Jessica Simpson.

Well, scoring with a Kardashian has resulted in raising a trophy recently. Kim Kardashian recently hooked up with Reggie Bush. The result? Bush and the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts in last year’s Super Bowl. It doesn’t stop there. Kim’s much less attractive sister, Chloe, is married to Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom. LA won the NBA Finals this past week.

Hopefully Austin will keep playing catch with Kardashian and bring good fortune.
