Many reports have been circling that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are prepared to remove the “interim” label from Jason Garrett’s title and make him the team’s next head coach. It almost seems like a foregone conclusion, but ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is not so sure.

Yes, Garrett has done plenty to earn the job and the team seemed to rally around him to close off the season. However, are there more qualified and better candidates to lead our Cowboys to the next level? Mortensen examines the question in the following video:

Where would you all like to see the coaching search go? Should we bring back Garrett or go after a big name guy? Sound off!

In the post-game conference following the Cowboys 35-17 loss to the Jaguars, head coach Wade Phillips continued his pathetic trend of having no answers and appearing to not know what is happening around him.

“It was embarrassing the way we played, the way we coached,” said Phillips. “I’m at a loss right now, certainly, because if I knew what to do I would have done it.”

There you have it folks. Wade Phillips admitted what we all have noticed over the last few years. He has no idea what to do. Wade is a defensive head coach and the defense has been terrible. You have to look at him for part of the unit’s struggles. He has no answers. He said it himself.

What makes this even worse is that Phillips said he hoped his team would come out and play with passion. Did you hear any passion in his voice during that presser? He has none. How can a team get motivated to play for a guy who looks like he has no interest in what is happening?

It blows my mind that Jerry Jones continues to support Phillips. If I had it my way, Phillips would be fired immediately and special teams coach Joe DeCamillas as the interim head coach. DeCamillas is the only coach I have seen on the sideline who has held players accountable and showed a certain fire. DeCamillas may not be the long term answer, but he has to be given the reigns to whip this team into shape.
