Starting quarterback Tony Romo is often criticized for his turnover filled games. While Romo is not solely to blame for the Cowboys early struggles in 2010, his five interceptions in the last two weeks has certainly contributed to the losses.

Fans and media members are not the only ones recognizing that Romo needs to take care of the ball more than ever, Romo himself has commented on the situation.

“The good news is there’s not a trend in making poor decisions,” Romo said. “Now, the ball is getting intercepted and we have to correct that. I have to do a better job. I have to correct that, and I will.

“But you have to throw it in there. When the guy’s open, you can’t hold the ball because it’s a farther down-the-field throw. Then you’ve got no chance. You’ve got to find the right mix. I know how important that is.”

While he is looking to protect the ball more, Romo vows to not play scared.

“If you dwell on the past, you’re in a lot of trouble in the future,” Romo said. “You have to be in the moment. You have to make the right decision. You have to block out what’ s going to happen in the future, what’s happened in the past and you have to make the right choice and right decision at that time.

“For us, that’s the way each play needs to be run. Where’s the best play to go with the football on this specific play and at this specific time? There’s nothing that happened in the past or in the future that’s going to dictate more than that.”

Romo’s comments are taking a step in the right direction. He is taking accountability and will attempt to fix them. Let us hope this will contribute to a Cowboys win on Monday night.
