The Minnesota Vikings, much like the Cowboys, are entering Week 5 of the regular season coming off of a bye week with a 1-2 record. Quarterback Brett Favre has never been able to get this going this season, and that is in large part to him missing top receiver Sidney Rice. That takes us to today’s ESPN report.

It seems that the Vikings are looking to add some firepower to their offense in the form of Randy Moss. Yes, the Randy Moss that currently is in his last season of a four-year deal with the New England Patriots.

On September 6th Moss said, “When you have done so much and put so much work in, it kind of feels like I am not wanted. I am taking that in stride and playing my final year out and whatever the future holds is what it holds, but it is kind of a bad feeling — feeling not wanted. It is not like my production has gone down.”

Moss is off to a slow start this year, but would still be a welcomed asset in Minnesota and could help them turn their season around. The only thing holding up the trade is contract talks.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, The deal is being held up because Moss would have to sign an extension with the Vikings, according to the report. Contract talks have not even begun.

This is a story for the entire league and especially the NFC teams to keep an eye on. If Moss is to return to Minnesota, the power could shift and the Vikings could once again emerge as the favorite in the conference. One thing is for sure: If Randy Moss returns to Minnesota, let’s all hope his ridiculous hair doesn’t decide to come back with him.

UPDATE: Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reports that the Patriots are saying “there is no trade.” Rapoport also says he’s told a trade is not “done,” but he confirms that a trade is being discussed.
