In this week’s addition of Who Should Stay/Who Should Go, I will be discussing whether or not the Cowboys should re-sign Free Agent Wide Receiver Laurent Robinson. Robinson signed a one year deal with the Cowboys after having played the past two season with the Rams. Like many of you, I didn’t even know who Robinson was when he signed and to be honest when I heard he had been signed I really didn’t care. However, when Miles Austin went down this season with his hamstring injury, Robinson emerged as a great back up receiver and at times he was arguably the best wide receiver on the football field. (more…)

Another high-profile free agent is off the list as the Falcons signed running back Michael Turner. It’s likely Warrick Dunn will be released as NFL.com reported earlier. But, who knows. That’s not really important.

What is important is what Jerry Jones told ESPN in an interview when pressed about what his plans are for the Dallas Cowboys running game. What Jones did was back away from the Darren McFadden circus and say that he doesn’t have to fill the team’s needs in the draft. He can also use free agency. And he also said he might surprise people.

Oh? Well, just about every person whom Cowboys fans would have liked to see fill those needs is now gone. Very few players are left who we think can come in right away with impact. I am working on a mock draft right now that, for the first time, shows the Cowboys trading up in the draft.

As each day passes, I think more and more that the Cowboys do plan to draft up and pick Darren McFadden. I think the Cowboys are working hard to trade picks with the Falcons. I am sure DeAngelo Hall will be included in the final package.

This is just speculation on my part, although we’ve heard the rumors. Keep an eye on this, guys.

If the Cowboys get DeAngelo Hall, I would be fine with trading the top two picks for McFadden. I don’t think having McFadden on the team would be horrible. It would be good. I just don’t want to trade all we have for a running back when the most-pressing need is the secondary. We need a new safety, too, because Roy Williams just is not cutting it.

The Cowboys are so close to being the best team in the NFL. I just hope Jerry Jones has enough scruples to not screw it up. Meanwhile, the Eagles continue to sign people. They find a wide out, and it is rumors Randy Moss is interested, and the Eagles are right back in the hunt.

I’m being a bit sarcastic here but when an owner pays a coordinator more than what another NFL team was offering that coordinator to become a head coach, what else should us Dallas Cowboys fans believe other than what my headline states?

ESPN’s Ed Werder, who has a hot daughter whom I’d love to, well, you know, reports that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave Jason Garrett $3 million a year to remain the offensive coordinator. That means the Falcons and Ravens lose.

But the amount of the offer is mindboggling. The whole situation with Jones and Garrett is odd. Usually, a head coach hires his coordinators. But Jerry Jones snagged Garrett out of Miami and hired him even before he hired a damn head coach. When Wade Phillips was hired, he already had one guy on his staff. This lead us all to believe a few things: first, we thought Garrett was going to be named head coach. Then we thought, once Phillips got the job, that he was a puppet, and that Garrett would take over the head coaching job after a year or two under his belt in Dallas.

And now this. So, here is to Jason Garrett, our new head coach. Go win us a damn record-breaking sixth Lombardi Trophy!
