Yesterday there were three developments in the NFL, and while none of them directly affected the Cowboys, all could demonstrate a doomsday scenario in 3 years time. Despite difficulties in basic NFL tasks-like running routes, catching passes or knowing the playbook- Dez Bryant has developed into one of the better wide receivers in the NFL and still has the one of the highest ceilings at his position, but recent developments display the disturbing trend that his best days might not be in Dallas. (more…)

Despite being on injured reserved for the rest of the season, rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant made a big enough impact in his first season to earn a couple of contract bonuses, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN.

Bryant earned the $1 million bonus by playing in 35% of the teams snaps when he was active and reeling in 41 catches. Bryant finished his rookie campaign with 45 catches for 561 yards. With his performance, Bryant also increased his pay by $1.4 million for next season.

There is no denying that he made a big impact on the team in his rookie season and the numbers will back up that claim. With a year of experience under his belt, look for Dez to keep improving and make an even larger impact in his sophomore season.

However, the first-round pick’s agent Eugene Parker is hopeful that the deal will be done very soon.

“We are going to work to get it done as soon as possible,” Parker told Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They want it done. We want it done.”

As soon as Bryant is under contract, the only remaining draft picks that will need to sign are linebacker Sean Lee, cornerback Jamar Wall and defensive end Josh Price-Brent, who was selected in the supplemental draft.
