Following the NFL over the last few months has been like sitting in between two junior high girls while they fight over Justin Beiber tickets. We’ve been right in the middle of a fight between millionaires and billionaires over sums of money that 99.9% of us are unable to conceptualize. And, most of us don’t care either. At a time when most of the country is still trying to pull itself out of a severe economic depression, the squabbles of a bunch of rich men isn’t really something most people have any time for. For the most part, all we want is football to watch on Sunday afternoons.

I’m so tired of De Smith and Roger Goodell. Now that this is done, I hope I won’t have to see either man for a long time. Of course, that will be impossible in Goodell’s case, but at least he’ll now be talking about something different. Still, that guy has some bridges he needs to build, both with the players and the fans that make all of this money possible. (more…)

According to Pro Football Talk and Don Banks of SI, things may have hit a snag on the players’ end. Apparently, there is some dissent, which is interesting since this deal is being recommended by DeMaurice Smith.

Just to be honest, I’m at my wit’s end with all of this mess, as I’m sure everyone else is too. If they don’t approve this thing by Friday, I’m probably going to snap and post a bunch of expletives on here. I really don’t know how much more I can write about the labor strife. (more…)

The true driving force behind the success of the National Football League is the working class people of this great nation. Football is a game that is uniquely ours and fandom is a central part of so many lives. This is what the owners and NFLPA seem to forget. Unfortunately, boycotting the game is a fan bluff that would never work. It's similar to my miniature schnauzer growling at a rottweiler.

Cowboys Lock-out Watch: NFLPA, Owners Hoping to Tentatively Agree to Agree on July 21st - The Landry Hat - The Landry Hat - A Dallas Cowboys Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Granted, that’s a truly awful headline, but the sad thing is that it’s factually correct. When Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen first reported that an agreement could be reached on July 21st it was huge news, but if you actually read between the lines of what they wrote, there is no reason to think that the two sides are any further along than they were last week. (more…)
