News broke today that the Chicago Bears have cut ties with 3-time pro bowler Defensive Tackle Tommie Harris. Harris who under preformed for the Bears in the 2010 season, having only recorded 18 tackles and 1.5 sacks in six starts. Harris was due a 2.5 million bonus in June. Harris started in 90 of 104 career games for the Bears.

Despite having a lackluster 2010 season Harris has been one of the dominant players on the Bears defense and was a very important part of the 2006 defense that helped the Bears reach the Super Bowl. He has a 213 tackles and 28.5 sacks in his 7 seasons all with the Bears.

Harris is only 27 years old and has proven that when healthy and motivated he can be a huge force on a team’s defense. So should the Cowboys give guy like Harris a chance or look for someone in the draft to fill their D-Line holes?
