ESPN posted a picture two days ago that showcased rapper/actor Ice Cube and his picks for his personal MT. Rushmore of athletes. In order to increase interaction they polled the Facebook community to see who they would carve into stone if they were given the chance to have their own athlete MT Rushmore. Since I’m gullible and answer any sports question ESPN posts on Facebook, I replied with my own version. As I tried to figure out the exact four athletes I would carve into the side of a mountain, I came to realize the majority of the people I would put up there would be Cowboys. So instead of having to pick four players from different sports, I want to share with you the four most influential Dallas Cowboys of my generation.

Ever since 1994 when Jerry Jones took control of the franchise in a manner only Fransisco Franco would applaud, the fans whined about what a sinister practitioner of revisionist history he was to not include Drew Pearson in the Dallas Cowboy’s Ring of Honor. Never mind that Tex Schramm had five seasons to get it done himself. No, Jerry Jones collaborated with Nero’s ghost to keep Drew Pearson out of the Ring of Honor.

Even if you didn’t have a vendetta against Jerry Jones, as though his production company stole your mineral rights, there was an agreement amongst Cowboys fans that Drew Pearson should be the next in the Ring of Honor. It finally happened on November 6th, 2011.

With Drew Pearson, Charles Haley, and Larry Allen going into the Ring, who should the Cowboys now honor?

Now before the Cowboy body politic is a new Ring of Honor inquiry: who’s got next?

Here’s my top five of who should go soon: (more…)

It also sparked questions about whether Charley Haley deserved to be in The Ring, and that controversy led some of us to start thinking about who should be the next to get inducted in to the Ring.
