He outplayed the long-list of receivers the Cowboys have on the roster, and apparently the coaches aren’t happy about the poor performance of others. The Tweeting intern mentioned that coaches are not happy with the receiver group.

Hurd had five catches for 79 yards in the second quarter Thursday. A story here says Hurd may even compete for Patrick Crayton’s job.

Hurd’s biggest gain against the Raiders was a 30-yard jump ball he caught while shielding the pass from a defender. When the Cowboys arrived at camp much of the receiver talk was focused on whether Miles Austin could unseat Patrick Crayton as the No. 2 receiver. Hurd has injected his name in that discussion by running crisp routes and routinely coming up with miracle catches.

I guess they were not expecting Hurd to do as well as he is, but let’s not throw in the towell so fast. I personally don’t get it. All this talk after one preseason game? I have this feeling that Miles Austin or one of the other receivers will have a big day against the Tennessee Titans, instead of Hurd. I’ve yet to see enough that shows me Hurd is that much farther ahead of the pack. Have you?
