Brand image, name, and symbol differentiate one company from the next. The Dallas Cowboys Star is indisputably the most recognized symbol of all 32 NFL teams. That star, while clearly a success in recognition, is not going to win them any Super Bowls. What the Cowboys need is a brand, “on-the-field”, i.e. a Pittsburgh Steelers running game, a New York Giants stout defense, or a New England Patriots pass attack. This handful of teams have shown success at winning consistently because they do not go changing game plans every 2-3 years like the Cowboys. The Cowboys need to find some stability or there will be no more Super Bowls in the future.

Jason Garrett is doing something a bit unorthodox, but something that I really like. He has made the equipment staff remove the stars off all the rookies in training camps helmets.

“The star is very important to us,” Garrett said after Monday’s walkthrough practice. “The star is an international symbol. It’s the Dallas football Cowboys. And the players hear me say that a lot. The star means something.” — Calvin Watkins, ESPN Dallas

Even Tyron Smith the Cowboys first round pick is wearing a plain helmet!

Some rookies such as Rookie cornerback Josh Thomas saw this as motivation. This is not the first time a Dallas Cowboys coach has done this in 2003 Bill Parcells did the same thing, Parcells even went as far as to make the first round picks bring him water during practice.

I myself love this move by Jason Garrett makes the rookies earn their spots and hold them accountable. The Star is a symbol of the Cowboys and I feel that making them earn this will make them work harder. Also like that Garrett is showing that this is his team!

Rock Cartwright is lucky that Tank Johnson didn’t get his hands on him. The special teams expert was seen celebrating on the Dallas Cowboys Star at the 50-yard line, one of several Washington Redskins players who celebrated in such a way after the upset win over the Cowboys.

“This is how it is. When you win, you win with class. When you lose, you lose with class,” Johnson said. “One of their guys, Cartwright, took it upon himself to celebrate on our star. It’s the fourth game of the season. No one has accomplished anything but a win. That’s just disrespectful and I don’t think we’d do that to them. And I’m surprised he did that to us.”

Cartwright later claimed that he wasn’t pulling the infamous Terrell Owens celebration stunt, he was instead just hanging out with his other teammates, who just happened to gather at the 50-yard line on the Star.

Who are the idiots who said this rivalry was getting boring? Why would a team that’s not as good as the one it just beat want to add fuel to the fire when they meet a gain later. Heck, maybe the Redskins, who have won 5 of the last 7 games against the Cowboys are better. I can’t screw around too much this year with my own personal opinions because there is just too much on the line this year. Way too much.

This celebration was disgusting, but completely expected out of this team of thugs and playahaters. The Redskins are the worst of the worst. They are a bunch of dirty players with disgusting morals. This will come back to haunt them.
