Arkin was excited when he learned that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith would be speaking and was hoping they would shine light on the situation to the young players, but that was not the case. In fact, Goodell and Smith remained tight-lipped.

“I thought we would learn more about what’s going on behind the scenes, but really didn’t,” Arkin said.

While Goodell and Smith failed to deliver to the rookies, Arkin was still impressed by speeches given by former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards and Plaxico Burress.

“Edwards brought great energy to the room,” Arkin said. “Things he said made a lot of sense. Burress was real open about his mistakes. He owned up to them.”

Against the Bengals, Jones ran for 96 yards on just 9 carries. He had more yards than Marion Barber, who had almost three times more carries. He was a key player in the Cowboys slim 31-22 win over the Bungals, who played a spirited game.
