I’ve decided to publish my final 2011 mock draft on The Landry Hat for all of you dedicated readers to comment on and ridicule. Come draft day, we will see how good or bad my predictions looked.

With the Cowboys first round pick, I gave into conventional thinking and gave the team an offensive tackle. Some other players to watch for the Cowboys pick: Tyron Smith, JJ Watt, Cameron Jordan, Nate Solder, Prince Amukamara. There is also a strong possibility that Dallas will trade down.

While I did not include a second round to this mock draft, I have the Cowboys taking either Ras-I Dowling or Brandon Harris with their second round pick. Check out my entire first round after the jump!

The Landry Hat and the rest of the FanSided league of bloggers has joined forces with CBS Sportsline for a 2010 Mock Draft.

You can view the mock draft here live.

This is a huge step for the FanSided Blogs Network and The Landry Hat, which continues to be one of the most-popular among the group. CBS knows we know our football and especially our teams.

My pick in the first round, as I explained, wasn’t easy. I wanted to draft Bruce Campbell, but the Oakland Raiders pulled the trigger first. I think Campbell will do well in the NFL.

I selected USC safety Taylor Mays with our first pick.

I know a lot of people look down on Mays, saying he can’t cover a rock and he’s declined in athleticism. I just happen to disagree. I think not only is he seasoned at his position, he is also pretty darn big. A few level hits from Mays and the receivers will think twice of being so bold in the middle.

I think Mays could also convert to a linebacker if he had to do that.

But, I am taking a few jabs from people who commented on my selection from the CBS mock draft page.

In the second round, I selected Perrish Cox, a cornerback from Oklahoma State.

I know what you are saying: YOU ARE NOT ADDRESSING THE OFFENSIVE LINE!!

In all actuality, if this were an 8 round draft, you’d see the rest of my picks be almost all offensive lineman. It will be addressed. But in the first two rounds I tried to pick players who I think can play right away.

Cox may not start at cornerback, but this kid is an excellent kick off returner. His special teams play is some of the best.

Not only does Cox add depth to the Dallas Cowboys secondary, he provides an immediate threat on special teams as a kickoff specialist. At Oklahoma State, he opened the season with a kickoff return for a touchdown and he ended the season with one against rival Oklahoma. Cox would contribute immediately on special teams, which the Cowboys need to get better at. Although he didn’t show off much speed at the Combine, don’t fret. He has the skills to avoid tackles and make tackles. His suspension from the Bowl game for curfew violations might make this pick a risk, but this is a kid who has first-round talent.
