Are the Cincinnati Bengals out of their mind? Chad Johnson has already said he doesn’t plan to play for the Bengals ever again. So, in comes the Washington Redskins and Daniel Snyder, who offered their first-round pick this year and another pick in 2009 that could be a first rounder depending on how well Johnson plays for the Crapskins, and the Bengals turn it down.

ESPN reported about it this morning here. This is the kind of action the Crapskins fanettes have been desiring all year.

Do the Bengals think Johnson is bluffing? If not, what exactly do they want for Johnson? I guess nothing, because they plan to keep a player who has already said he won’t play for them. They must think he is bluffing.

The Bengals have not only rejected the Redskins, but two other NFC East suitors — the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles — have been informed that there has been no change in the team’s position that Johnson will not be traded.

I think this is the kicker:

Trading Johnson also would mean Cincinnati would take an $8 million salary cap hit, but that amount could be split over the next two years. Additionally, as one anonymous owner told ESPN.com, “There’s nothing wrong with dead money. It’s cash already paid and it’s cash back in your pocket that you don’t have to spend, especially with the [high] amount of everyone’s salary cap these days.”

I am not sure what exactly this means, but I assume it means the Bengals really don’t lose out on getting rid of Johnson, other than the salary cap hit, which affects future signings. But the Bengals don’t make a lot of free agent splashes. So what the heck is going on?

If the Bengals had any intelligent person running the show, they would get rid of Johnson (The Crapskins offer seemed pretty sweet) and use that extra pick to draft a new wide receiver with a better attitude and one who is less pompous. That won’t be hard to do.
