I remember exactly what ran through my head when I first heard the injury report on Sean Lee.  I remember the shock…the disbelief.  I remember mouthing the words, to no one in particular, “Not Lee…anyone but Lee”.

Why does it seem as though our highest valued and most irreplaceable players are the ones injured every season?  Why are the positions where we lack quality depth always the ones that fall?  Are The Cowboy’s cursed?  Are we poorly conditioned?  In the case of Sean Lee I would have to say no.

Following the NFL over the last few months has been like sitting in between two junior high girls while they fight over Justin Beiber tickets. We’ve been right in the middle of a fight between millionaires and billionaires over sums of money that 99.9% of us are unable to conceptualize. And, most of us don’t care either. At a time when most of the country is still trying to pull itself out of a severe economic depression, the squabbles of a bunch of rich men isn’t really something most people have any time for. For the most part, all we want is football to watch on Sunday afternoons.

I’m so tired of De Smith and Roger Goodell. Now that this is done, I hope I won’t have to see either man for a long time. Of course, that will be impossible in Goodell’s case, but at least he’ll now be talking about something different. Still, that guy has some bridges he needs to build, both with the players and the fans that make all of this money possible. (more…)

As far as the ‘Boys, they will report to camp on Wednesday with the first practice taking place on Thursday. Three days from now, the Dallas Cowboys will be on a practice field. I couldn’t be more pleased. I think I can speak for everyone when I say how tiring these labor negotiations have become. More to come…
