Is Tony Romo A Super Bowl Quarterback?

Love him or hate him, Tony Romo is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. For years, Dallas Cowboy fans cried out for a Brett Favre-esque player in a blue and silver uniform. Heck, we wouldn’t have minded number four himself but it never happened. The Boys tried out a few guys you might remember: Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson and who can forget Ryan Leaf. Quite a cast, wouldn’t you say?

Then we tried out a guy by the name of Drew Bledsoe. He did well but never delivered the glory that was expected and ultimately that belongs in Big D. Father time got the better of Bledsoe and soon it was time for another change. So why not take a chance? Then head coach Bill Parcells handed the reins to a unknown, unproven guy from Eastern Illinois University. Really? Tony Romo? Talk about the epitome of desperation. Yet, Tony wowed us with his Houdini-like escape tricks and underhanded touchdown passes. He was our quarterback. (more…)

Should Saint’s Coaches And Players Be Punished For ‘Bounty’ Business As Usual?

Word went out this past week that Gregg Williams, while Defensive Coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, led a bounty system with his players from 2009 thru last year. The NFL has conducted an investigation and found substantial proof that he did. The implications apparently are huge – fines, suspensions and loss of draft picks – to start.

Gregg Williams himself has admitted as much by apologizing for it as a prelude to his punishment. The General Manager and Head coach of the Saints, Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton respectively, may also be fined and suspended for not doing anything about it. All I have to say about all this is:

"Hey League, I'm a Catch"

As far as I’m aware, it’s not true, but how does that statement sound? How did it make you feel for that brief second? Was it a good feeling or a feeling of dread?

It was dread for me. That’s one way I know that Romo is still my QB of choice.

But, maybe I’m on to something

Let’s do this. Let’s replace Tony Romo. Many of you are calling for it anyway. Even card carrying Romo lover, Randy Galloway of the Star-Telegram, has renounced his Romosexuality. So lets give Cowboy Nation what they want.

First, lets try to replace him with a QB from Dallas’ past. Romo is, and will continue to be, compared to the best from our own past. Let’s see what that looks like. We’ll use Don Meredith, Roger Staubach, Danny White, Troy Aikman and Drew Bledsoe — I pre-eliminated Gary Hogeboom and Quincy Carter and all the other crappy ones. (more…)
