The one Roy Williams let get away.

Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams has been nothing but ridiculed since joining the team after a ridiculous trade by Jerry Jones. Williams has yet to live up to the hype and his time with the team may soon be coming to an end.

To add to his embarrassment as a Cowboy, Williams made headlines the past few days after suing former Miss Texas USA Brooke Daniels.

Williams apparently sent a recorded marriage proposal and $76,000 engagement ring to Daniels through the mail. Daniels rejected the proposal like any self respecting person would do after receiving a marriage request in a letter.

The good news for Williams, he got his ring back today but there is still a giant void in his ego. The only way to sum up Williams during his Cowboys career and in his marriage proposal is by saying that he really dropped the ball on this one.

Every Dallas Cowboys fan would love to see top free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha suit up for the ‘Boys next season but the closer we get to a new labor deal and free agency, the less likely it seems that Asomugha will wear the star.

One of the only ways that Dallas could land Asomugha is if they release veteran Terrance Newman and open up some cap space. While that move is not too ridiculous, Jerry Jones has said Newman and Mike Jenkins will both return to the team this season and he expects them in their top form.

So without cap space created from Newman’s release, it really is a big longshot for Dallas to land the elite cover corner. Matt Mosley of Fox Sports Southwest wrote today: (more…)

Dallas Cowboys fourth round pick David Arkin was one of the many rookies who attended last week’s “Business of Football: Rookie Edition” workshops that were hosted by the NFLPA in Bradenton, Florida.

Arkin was excited when he learned that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith would be speaking and was hoping they would shine light on the situation to the young players, but that was not the case. In fact, Goodell and Smith remained tight-lipped.

“I thought we would learn more about what’s going on behind the scenes, but really didn’t,” Arkin said.

While Goodell and Smith failed to deliver to the rookies, Arkin was still impressed by speeches given by former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst Herm Edwards and Plaxico Burress.

“Edwards brought great energy to the room,” Arkin said. “Things he said made a lot of sense. Burress was real open about his mistakes. He owned up to them.”

It’s nice to see that someone could at least give the rookies some things to think about and a look at what they have in store during their NFL careers. If you didn’t get a chance to see Herm Edwards speech, it is must see and you can CHECK IT OUT HERE.
