The Dallas Cowboys have a decision looming with another player facing criminal charges in the offseason. Could Tyrone Crawford be on his way out?

Over the past few offseasons, the Dallas Cowboys have had to deal with one or two players getting into trouble with the police and getting arrested or charged later with crimes. Last season they had receiver Terrance Williams, tight end Rico Gathers, and cornerback Marquez White all arrested for various offenses. This season, defensive end Tyrone Crawford has been charged for his involvement in a bar brawl on March 27th.

The NFL has yet to get involved in the situation but they most likely will now that charges have been filed. Which could lead most likely to a three-game suspension for Crawford. They don’t like having video footage of one of their players throwing punches out there for the world to see.

While the charge is only a misdemeanor the question still remains, will Crawford be on this team to start the season? With the moves Dallas has made this offseason, I’m not so sure. The talent they have brought in could make it a lot easier to move on from Crawford.

It’s not like Crawford was a dominant player on the field with 5.5 sacks and 34 tackles in 2018. His numbers can be duplicated. With the log jam of players on the defensive line players like Kerry Hyder and Jalen Jelks have the ability to play both the left defensive end position and move inside plus rush the passer on passing downs. Giving both the opportunity to give the Cowboys the same production if they let Crawford go.

Dallas would also be able to save $7 million in salary cap space if they designate him a post-June 1st cut. That money can then go towards contract negotiations for other players on the team. Something the Cowboys need if they want to keep their core together.

With that said, only time will tell if the Dallas Cowboys pull the trigger and let Tyrone Crawford go. They wanted to prove a point with Terrance Williams last season and I think they should again with Crawford this season.
