This proves Cowboys Jerry Jones is still delusional

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones latest comment proves he is unfit for duty, in my opinion.

Nothing good comes from giving Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones a microphone.

Seriously. Somebody should unplug his mic when he talks.

More from The Landry Hat

First, there was his attempt to shield defensive end Greg Hardy‘s poor behavior this past season by labeling the outspoken and loud character as one of the “leaders” on the squad.

Okay.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure if I were to walk up to my boss and knock out his notepad during a meeting, people wouldn’t lend me a leader tag around the office.

I’d advise you to not try that. You’re welcome to watch the video to simulate a real-life scenario in your head.

Let me know how it goes.

Numerous reports claim the Cowboys are done with Hardy. Shocking.

Now, according to Todd Archer at ESPN, Jones believes that Jason Garrett‘s super squad is simply one player away from a super title shot.

"“I’m the most surprised person in Mobile or the country that we haven’t been back to and competed in a Super Bowl,” said Jerry Jones. “But I know firsthand that you can go from the outhouse to the penthouse. And I’ve experienced it. And consequently that fact has always driven me to know that it’s just around the corner.”"

I swear I’ve heard this poppycock before, from the same pair of lips no less.

Really, surprised Mr. Jones?

It’s been 20 years since the Cowboys held a trophy of any sorts. Dallas hasn’t entered a NFC Championship game in that same time span.

Since then, Dallas as seen six different head coaches. The Boys have compiled a 162-158 regular season record in that span, going 3-8 in the playoffs. Again, no NFC Championship visits, which of course means no Super Bowl visits.

Surprised? Hardly.

And as far as going from outhouse to penthouse, former head coach Jimmy Johnson led a masterful trade campaign, also known as the Great Trade Robbery that facilitated the beginning of the glory years. Since the trade, there hasn’t been a move like that within the league, let alone the Cowboys organization.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the Dallas Cowboys are heading towards another dismal 4-12 finish in 2016. Far from that thought, actually.

The Cowboys still have Tony Romo, who owns the third highest quarterback rating of all-time. The offensive line will improve, which is saying a lot considering the unit was voted the best line in 2015. Dez Bryant is primed to return. The same coaches are around.

So there are more reasons than not to suggest the 2016 Cowboys will be more like 2014 than 2015.

But let’s not kid ourselves every time we land in front of microphone, Mr. Jones. I’m not buying the recycled optimism from the owner and general manager.

Neither should you.
