When Is Enough, Enough For The Cowboys?

Sometimes, I have to reel myself back in when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys.  Looking back at the games last year, the Cowboys lost a lot of games where they were out performing, and clearly the better team for most of the game.  That is, until the final minutes of the game, then the opponent became the better team.  I get pretty upset at the seemingly ignorant mistakes of the coaches and players.  I feel like the Cowboys are slipping into a state of idiocy.  Very similar to that of the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders.

The Cowboys are kind of becoming the laughing stock of the league.  Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is a brilliant mind, but sometimes it does seem like he makes very ignorant mistakes.  Also, Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo makes terrible decisions, and terrible throws.  I often wonder if Romo is as good as everyone says he is.  I also wonder, if he will even finish this season.

Then we have Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who I would like to ask, “How many general managers would you have fired by now?”  I’d say we would be on our 5th or 6th general manager since the year 2000.  I just don’t get it.

So here’s my question, when is enough, enough?  How much longer will the Cowboys put up with Jason Garrett’s costly mistakes?  How many interceptions, and games thrown away will the Cowboys tolerate from Romo?  Here’s the big question, how much longer will we, the fans, put up with Jerry Jones?  I’m typically a pretty positive fan, but as the season looms closer and closer, I think, “what kind of stupid mistakes will I have to read and hear about from Sunday to Sunday?”

If this season turns out to be a total flop, like everyone predicts, then maybe it will be time to take a step back and look at the organization from the top down.  Start with Jerry Jones, then the coach, then the quarterback.  Sometimes, I have to convince myself, it’s just a game.  But, it’s a game that I truly love, and this is a team that I have followed, cheered for, and spent a lot of my time and money to support.  Therefore, I am deeply concerned for the state of the Cowboys.  I still feel like the Cowboys can definitely go 10-6 and make the playoffs.  But, if I were somehow stranded on an island for the entire season and missed every game, and I was told upon my rescue that the Cowboys finished 5-11, I wouldn’t be surprised.

This team has just lived on the edge too much for a fan to handle.  I will continue to support the team through it all.  I supported them when they were going through the very low times back in the early 2000’s.  However, I’m growing weary of this team and their lack of success.  The NFC West will be tough games for the Cowboys this year.  These will be games that the Cowboys will be limited on how many mistakes they can make.  If this season goes awry, then we will see moves and firings made, the question is, who will it be?
