Kenneth Boatright

Defensive End, Dallas Cowboys

Going into the regular season, the Dallas Cowboys are going to be forced to keep two defensive ends on their final 53-man roster that will not be able to contribute immediately due to injury: All-Pro Anthony Spencer and their 2014 second round selection, rookie DeMarcus Lawrence. That leaves only Jeremy Mincey, Tyrone Crawford and George Selvie as automatic locks to make Dallas’ final roster at this position. Defensive end Kenneth Boatright, who was certainly a fringe player going into Thursday night’s matchup against the Denver Broncos, probably earned himself a roster spot with his performance. The 2013 undrafted rookie out of Southern Illinois recorded four tackles and a sack during the Cowboys final preseason game. Although secure now, I’m confident Dallas will be busy bringing in waived players from other teams this weekend to compete with him.
