Cowboys Dez Bryant Is Da Man

The Dallas Cowboys 2014 season is close approaching.  After 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons, I have learned to be guarded when it comes to my enthusiasm for the upcoming season.  While I don’t have grandiose expectations for the Cowboys this year, there is one thing that is becoming more and more evident.  Wide receiver Dez Bryant is not only the top player on this team but he is entrenching himself as one of the top players in the league.

His performance in the preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night only solidified that notion.  Bryant finished with 3 receptions for 59 yards and 1 touchdown in half a quarter.  The touchdown reception was a beautiful 31 yard grab that we have grown accustomed to watching Bryant.

As Cowboys fans we all know the freakish athletic ability Dez has.  We have know for quite some time that he can dominate this league.  It was just a matter of whether he can put off the field issues behind him.  Quite honestly, I have never thought the issues he had were that detrimental to the team compared to others seen across the league.  Nonetheless, the media pounced on him and probably made the issues larger than they were just because it was Dez.  However, Bryant seems to have put that all behind him and is now solely focused on ripping through this league.

I wrote an earlier article how Dez needs to step up and be one of the leaders on this team.  I think it is becoming evident that along with quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten, Dez has put his stamp on the Cowboys as a leader and even more so than those two, is the heart and soul of the team.

I am not sold on the Cowboys defense being that much more improved than they were from last year.  I think another 8-8 season might actually be a successful year.  If there is any chance to surpass that it will undoubtedly fall on the hands of the offense.  They certainly have the chance to have a special year on that side of the ball.  Without a doubt Bryant will play a huge role in making this years offense one of the league’s best.

I am a grown man so this feels a little silly to say.  But Dez Bryant is by far my favorite player on the Cowboys.  I may go as far as to say I have a man crush on him.  There I said it!  Throw up the ‘X’ Cowboys fan if you agree!
