  • Spencer’s progression and the crippling injury to Lawrence changes the landscape here.  I am a bit shocked that Cowboys have not used the IR with designation to return on him yet.  This would provide him the ability to return on his timetable while gaining an extra roster spot.  Minter and Boatright provide the most juice out of any other option available, plus there is always the cloud that is Josh Brent hanging over this position.

POSITION STATUS – Probably the most likely to change.  With so many options and moves necessitated out of injury, as well as the style the Cowboys plan to play, eleven is certainly not out of the question.

  • Holloman’s injury against the Ravens may open a roster spot elsewhere on the team.  Other than possibly Will Smith, there is no other linebacker on the team that deserves to be considered for a spot.

POSITION STATUS – If Holloman is not seriously injured, this is unlikely to change.  If he is, that extra roster spot will be used in the secondary.

  • Thankfully, players on the suspended list are not paid for their time suspended and do not count against the active 53 man roster so Orlando Scandrick will wait in the wings while he misses the first four games of the season.  That spot will likely be between Webb, Tyler Patmon and Ahmad Dixon with another spot possibly opening if Holloman cannot play this year.

POSITION STATUS – Seven guys are locks, leaving five guys to fight for two or three spots until Scandrick is allowed back.

  • Dan Bailey might be a robot.  Seriously, that guy just does not miss kicks.
