Brandon Weeden will cause a QB controversy after he goes 9 of 9 for 235 yards and 4 touchdowns. Cowboy Nation will acknowledge Jerry Jones as a genius for signing Weeden this off-season and will finally scream – Manziel who? As Rod Marinelli’s signature group, the defensive line will not be in pre-season mode – watch for constant rotation and pressure.
I’ll be looking at the battle amongst receivers. Three spots belong to Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams (no, I will not say T-Will) and Dwayne Harris due to his special teams contributions. I believe the rest are up for grabs.
The middle linebacker position also deserves some attention. Sean Lee set the bar high and I would like to see Kyle Wilber, Anthony Hitchens and DeVonte Holloman together. The demotion of Mackenzy Bernadeau last season sparked a fire within him. After replacing Brian Waters, who suffered a season ending torn pectoral muscle injury, he was outstanding.
I would hope that being demoted last season had the same effect on Bruce Carter. Hopefully, during this game Carter can get a rematch against the San Diego Chargers’ running back, Danny Woodhead. That would be fun to watch. I’ll also be looking to see if Rolando McClain plays like he wants a roster spot.
The Chargers may have beaten us when it counted last year, but since this is pre-season I’ll keep my final score prediction modest. You can take that to the bank along with a few grains of salt – it’s pre-season, not the Super Bowl!
Cowboys 51 – Chargers 6

I try to respond to article comments, but the best way to discuss Cowboys Football with me is to like my Robert H. Carroll Facebook page!
Last but not least – Happy 5th Birthday to my son this Friday August 8th (He’s a natural #88) – He’s also lifelong member of Cowboys Nation (his mom & I made sure of that)!
