Cowboys, Chargers Late Thursday Night Game; Time, Channel, Weather Info

The Dallas Cowboys will kick-off the NFL preseason against the San Diego Chargers late this Thursday night at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. The game will air on the NFL Network, as well as several other affiliate stations (see below), starting at 9:00 p.m. CST, 10:00 p.m. EST, 7:00 p.m. PST.

The match-up pits last year’s 8-8 Cowboys against the 9-7 Chargers in the first game of the NFL preseason. Dallas starting quarterback, Tony Romo, is unlikely to play due to his continuing rehabilitation from back surgery. Romo has appear nearly 100% healed during training camp. But it is thought the Cowboys are holding him out of this first game to simply be extra cautious with the 34-year old.

It should be an exciting game for both team’s new draft classes in their official NFL debuts. The Cowboys top pick from Notre Dame, offensive guard Zack Martin, should play plenty on Thursday night. As for the Chargers, their first round pick, TCU cornerback Jason Verrett, is unlikely to participate as he’s still recovering from shoulder surgery in March.

As Qualcomm Stadium is an open-air venue, weather will play a factor in this game. Fortunately, is predicting a great partly cloudy night for football with a temperature high of 75 degrees and a low of 65. There is also a zero percent chance of rain and the wind should be mild, coming out of the WNW at 11 mph.
