When the Dallas Cowboys open training camp on July 23, they will be looking to improve their roster from the year before with players who can offer some level of contribution. Like in past years, several unknown players seem to use training camp as a vault onto the permanent roster. More often than not, new faces come at the expense of a veteran who has underperformed.

Recently, players like veteran safety Brodney Pool turned into a camp casualty, falling victim to a crowded secondary and not being in shape.

After a third consecutive 8-8 record last year, training camp will likely be uncomfortable for several players who have underachieved over the past several seasons. The coaching staff will hope that this facilitates an environment that allows young players to take the roster spots of veterans who no longer contribute anything significant to the team.

Several players are in danger of being bumped off the roster by their younger teammates, and some of the names could surprise you.
