All-NFC East Team Reader Selection: Quarterback

As we endure the final weeks before training camp begins, the sites of FanSided NFL have begun the process of forming all-division teams. That means I’m coordinating with our NFC East brethren from Riggo’s Rag, Gmen HQ and Inside The Iggles to form an all-star roster of players from the Washington Redskins, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.

Once the eight all-division teams have been formed, FanSided will hold a tournament to determine the best, culminating with all-division Super Bowl. Each round will be determined by a poll voted on by our fabulous readers. A reader poll will also be used to break any ties if the sites can’t agree on who should get picked for a particular position.

Some of the positions are fairly easy to figure out. Players like wide receiver Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten absolutely belong on the list. Others, like the All NFC East quarterback are a bit more difficult. Who would you take between Tony Romo, Robert Griffin III, Nick Foles and Eli Manning? It’s those types of questions we are trying to answer in order to present the best NFC East team possible for competition between every NFL division in FanSided. And your input would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s today’s position selection: Quarterback (1)

Who would you pick to represent the NFC East in our upcoming all NFL Division Battle?

Tony Romo. Stats don’t lie, look at his last season. Nick Foles can’t hold a flame to Romo’s pedigree.

    • truthbetold

But stats don’t mean a damn thing if you can’t lead your team to victory. Romo excuse makers like to rush and blame everything on the defense. but the fact is that Nick Foles walked in, first season as starter, and let the 29th ranked defense to 10 wins and a division title. I’m taking foles all day over Romo.

      • Jim

        Good luck with that.

        • truthbetold

I would say thanks, but instead I’ll tell you to keep the luck. You’re going to need it more than I do.

      • David

So I guess Dan Marino is not that good of a QB?

        • truthbetold

Are you comparing Romo to Marino? Marino isn’t in the conversation for the best ever to me because he has no ring, but it still isn’t as bad as Romo. because Romo doesn’t even win in the damn regular season anymore dude! It’s been almost half a decade since he led this team to more than 8 wins and almost half a decade since he got to the playoffs.

          • David

This is how football ignorant you are. Marino is in every conversation when it comes to the best QB’s of all time…

          • truthbetold

This is how ignorant you are when it comes to reading comprehension. I said “to me”. Go back and look. Try reading slower next time. the greatest ever debate TO ME is out of Montana, Brady, and Manning. 3 champions. Did you get it that time? And answer my question. No bullshit, answer my question straight up. Are you comparing Romo to Marino? Are you disputing that he hasn’t been to the playoffs in nearly half a decade?

          • David

I dont need to go back and read. I read where you said to you. And my reply to you was you are football ignorant. Its not that hard for you to understand is it. Well I guess it is. You are a true comedy. And you think Foles is better than Romo because he beat one playoff team. A Packers team without Rodgers. Like I said you are about as football ignorant as they come.

          • truthbetold

Lol I notice you conveniently avoided acknowledging that he hasn’t been to the playoffs in nearly half a decade. That’s the thing with you guys. You’ll grasp at every straw in an attempt to make excuses for a quarterback who is nothing more than a talented loser. Period. This is why you Romo fans are a joke that the rest of the football world loves to laugh at. He’s only led this team to 1 single playoff victory in his entire starting career, and he hasn’t had a winning season in almost 5 years, but I bet you disagree with him being called a talented loser. So then prove me wrong David. What has Romo won?

      • daBoys

Foles nearly lost to a back up quarter back. If Romo were the QB, the Eagles wouldn’t have won the division and Romo would’ve solidified a perfect divisional record.

        • truthbetold

Nearly? The only people who care about what “nearly” happens are the people trying to make excuses for something. Bottom line, did he win or lose? He won, and that’s it.

  • truthbetold

I’m taking Eli AND Foles over Tony Romo. The jury is still out on RG3 after a great rookie season and a terrible sophomore season.

    • Jim

Eli was horrendous last year so I can’t fathom why you would take him over Romo.

      • truthbetold

Lol you guys just don’t get it. That was the worst Eli has ever been right? And he still finished within 2 games of Romo, and most importantly, they both were at home watching the playoffs. Why? Because for all Romo’s stats, he simply isn’t a winner. So you may as well go with the guy with 2 rings who has actually been clutch in the playoffs. Something your quarterback knows absolutely nothing about.

        • David

Eli has a career rating of 81.2. That is laughable. He is Trent Dilfer times 2. Its a tragedy that he has more SB’s than his brother..

          • truthbetold

Dilfer barely played any role. Eli did. He is not as good as Peyton, but they are both champions. That separates them from Romo.

        • daBoys

Eli wouldn’t be clutch without a defensive

        • Greg Hill

Manning did have his worst year last year, but overall he has led his team to two SB’s and not by accident. When comparing stats between QB’s you need to factor in where they play. Would you rather play in a windy cold stadium in NY or in a controlled climate like Jerry’s World. How would Romo do playing in NY 8 games a year for a career? Stats and excuses are for losers. The only thing that counts is who won. Something Romo somehow does’nt do much of every year. Having the physical qualities is important for a QB but there are other qualities such as leadership required for a championship team. Roger Staubach wasn’t the greatest statistically but was a great leader and still is. How did he do?

          • truthbetold

Finally someone with some sense around here. These guys don’t realize just how screwed they are with Romo as thier QB.

  • Jack Farguson

Yea but Foles wouldn’t have done it with the 32nd rated defense. He barely snuck in, and the only reason he did is because he made it around that 32nd rated defense in the last game, by 2 points! And no Romo to out score them! The offense with Romo scored an average of 27.5 points per game. They didn’t do that good in the season that Romo took them to the playoffs!

  • Jim

Romo’s career QB rating shows that these other guys pale in comparison. Add to that the fact Dallas has arguably the best young offensive line in the league, which will equate to Romo’s best stats ever.
