Every summer contains a lifeless lull in the sports driven life of committed Cowboys fans.  These are the boring, antsy final weeks before Dallas Cowboys Training Camp.

Those who are huge fans of any NFL team typically enjoy sports in general to some extent.  At least one other well publicized sport surely captures the interest.

In Texas, this is almost guaranteed as we thrive on athletic competition as major entertainment.  Dallas: Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, Stars.  Houston: Astros, Rockets, Texans.  San Antonio Spurs.  Yes, we love our Texas sports.

I aptly call these next few weeks the ‘Dead Period’ as very little occurs in the major sports universe of any significance.

Options to subdue our competitive hunger are scarce while awaiting the Cowboys’ first practice in Oxnard, CA on July 24th.

Some lulls are longer than others, and thanks to a few nice surprises in the sports world, this dead period will mercifully be of the much shorter variety.
