With the Dallas Cowboys offseason in full swing, some Cowboys sites will be going into hibernation until the start of training camp in late July. But not The Landry Hat! For us, it’s easy to discuss, debate, and just plain old talk about our favorite team all year long because we love to. And it’s in that spirit that I believe it’s time for us fans to make some bold predictions about the upcoming 2014 regular season. Therefore, The Landry Hat is starting a new daily series called Over/Under.
It’s fairly simple. We’ll present you a daily topic, You’ll tell us if you think that particular Cowboys player will get over or under that stat for the entire regular season and why.
Here’s today’s Over/Under question: Will Jason Witten get 100 receptions in 2014?
Here’s what you need to know: Witten is an eleven year veteran who has recorded 100+ receptions only once in his career (2012). Last season, Witten had 73 catches off of 111 targets. In fact, the 32-year old has been targeted 100+ times in each of the last seven seasons straight.
This offseason, the Cowboys hired former New York Giants tight end coach Mike Pope. The 72-year old is one of the most respected assistant coaches in the NFL and has four Super Bowl rings to prove it. Dallas also added former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan as their new passing game coordinator. So Witten could benefit from additional targets in his pass-happy system.
Now, it’s your turn. Answer the question below then head further down the page to our comment section to tell us why. Get in on the great conversation with passionate fans just like you by joining the ever growing Landry Hat community. Go Cowboys!
