The Dallas Cowboys wrapped the last piece of draft business this week by signing their entire rookie class to various contracts. Those young men are all now officially members of our beloved franchise. On Wednesday, the final deal was signed by Boise State defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. Two days earlier, the Cowboys top pick, Notre Dame offensive guard Zack Martin, inked his contract. And now we know all the numbers. In fact, let’s take a closer look at the entire class of 2014 Cowboys rookie salaries. In addition, we also try to predict their roles in the upcoming regular season.
Offensive guard Zack Martin
First Round, Pick 16 (16th overall)
Contract: 4 yr(s) / $8,967,800
Signing Bonus: $4,842,036
Predicted 2014 Role: Martin is expected to become the Cowboys starter at guard in his rookie season. Although it may be difficult, Martin is quietly expected by some to exceed the accomplishments of 2013’s first round pick center Travis Frederick (31st overall) simply based on draft position alone. Martin could ultimately replace veteran Doug Free at right tackle at some point, creating the league’s best bookend offensive line tandem in all the NFL along with Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith.
