The Dallas Cowboys’ repetitive 8-8 record the last 3 years says plenty about the overall lack of hunger on those rosters.  Naturally, we must go further and dive into the meat of this topic and the 2014 roster.

I wouldn’t say the Cowboys are going through a rebuilding phase, but there is zero doubt this team is widely revamped.  The sheer amount of new faces we will see take the field for Week 1 will display a vast changing of the guard.

Be it through bad injury, losing starting jobs, or moving on to a new team, several 2013 Cowboys’ players won’t be in the starting lineup come September 7th.

There is little chance that will be a bad thing for 2014 results.  The complacency on this team has been disheartening during Head Coach Jason Garrett‘s reign.

With Garrett’s uninspiring coaching style, a large veteran core of aging, overly secure starters, and a huge lack of vocal leaders…this team has shown little fire or swagger during his failing 24-24 tenure.

Good to see all these guys going to battle for their spots it will make the team better now that they will compete for a job it’s nobody pencilled in on the d line but Melton linebacker spots are up in the air safety o line has a little battle this is what makes teams better when a guy has to scratch and claw to win over the coaches to get on that field I think this team is going to shock a lot of people when it’s all said and done I’m not calming a Super Bowl but I do see playoffs with this team we get in there watch out..

Matty ice!! U took the words right out of my mouth.with the new additions and having to actually earn a spot thru competition will do wonders for the team this yr…look out nfl…COWBOY NATION! !!

Good to see some positive things going for this team they went and got some depth so in case somebody goes down they have guys to fill in I think they’re a better team at this time then last years group which even though last years group played horrible on defense but I think the whole nation should see cowboys should have won against kc–Denver—Detroit–and Philly at the end and that’s without romo that’s 4 more games dallas really should’ve took advantage of last year with that broke down defense and with this year grabbing what they grabbed and getting back some health I see playoffs in the near future can’t wait to get it going..

I agree with you on positive steps taken for the future . I’ve told people u can have the best off in the world, but when you have guys sitting on the couch on sun, then bring them in to look at on Tues and they’re playing the next sun and a total of 20 different d-lineman then I’m sure you’ll be last or next to last on the defensive side of the ball.great draft hungry players and having to prove they belong watch out for those 2014 cowboys..COWBOY 4LIFE!!

I agree that the games you listed could have been won. But there were a lot of very close games that the Cowboys won. It probably evens out in the end.

You should of had Dixion as one that will compete for the safety spot. Also even though Scrsndrick did play as good as he has ever played, I wouldn’t described it as he “excel”. He is still a liability in pass coverage and trying to tackle someone in the open field. How may ints does this guy have after 6 seasons? All I think of is 2 total.

No offense but I think you are off a bit on the D-line and where guys will be playing. I think McClain will be the starter at the 1 tech and Mincey will be rotating with Lawrence at RDE. Crawford will rotate with Selvie at LDE unless its an obvious passing down where I think they would go with Selvie, Crawford, Melton and Lawrence. And honestly I do not think Hayden makes the team. This team has a ton of young talent at DT and I think he may get pushed out…The LB crew is a mess but I think it will play out with Wilbur, Holloman and Carter as the starters unless Hitchens just lights it up in camp.

Durant was invisible last year. Don’t expect much from him this year. Rather have Holloman on the field. Don’t write Slevie off. Like the direction of the player turnover.
