Cowboys 2014 Draft: Day Three, The Best Of The Rest

After a two straight days of the 2014 NFL Draft, there are a surprising amount of talented prospects available for the event’s fast and furious conclusion, entitled Day Three. And with only two acquisitions so far, the Dallas Cowboys certainly need to find some hidden gems in this crop of possible diamonds. Here’s a list of the best available players I believe the Cowboys could target on Saturday.

Jackson Jeffcoat, DE, Texas: The son of Dallas Cowboys great Jim Jeffcoat belongs in Dallas. It would only be right. Seen by many as more of a situational pass rusher then an every down defensive end, Jeffcoat might be a better selection in the fourth or fifth. Just don’t think he’d last that long.

DaQuan Jones, DT, Penn State: Jones’ measurables are off the charts. His fit in the Cowboys 4-3 would be the biggest question.

Bashaud Breeland, CB, Clemson: Invited to Dallas for a private workout, Breeland could be a nice sleeper pick for the Cowboys. Good, not great, across the board. Breeland could compete with Morris Claiborne.

Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty: An unheralded corner who was also a private workout for the Cowboys, Aikens is a good run supporter with a big frame. Off-the-field issues believed to be in the past.

Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina: A tough, high character little receiver who has excellent ability to get separation from defender.

AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama: A quarterback who did nothing but win in college, has a lot of work to do in both the film room and his mechanics. He allegedly disappointed many NFL teams with his lack of football knowledge. His fiance may get more media attention than him.

There is still a lot of quality players left. I would love Martavis Bryant in the 4th as a steal but I just dont think they can ignore the defense and that lack of the 3rd pick hamstrings Dallas.

  • Trey

DION BAILEY !!!!! USC , Safety

I like that kid from Boston College for Will LB over Telvin Smith. He could be there in the 5th.

I see that the cowboys passed on Jackson jeffcoat as well as everybody else. In fact, no longhorns were drafted. I guess getting high is more important than football in austin
