In the last few months, Dallas Cowboys fans have been bombarded with a massive amount of draft information. And many of us know all the names of the major prospects that our Cowboys will be interested in when the NFL Draft begins on May 8th. Still, there are so many players to choose from, no one could possibly know them all. It is to this end that I have complied a list of ten former college players you’ve probably never heard of whom the Cowboys certainly have an interest in. All of the following prospects have allegedly meet with Dallas officials at some point this offseason. Whether that be at the Senior Bowl, the NFL Scouting Combine , Dallas Day (locals only), a private workout or an official visit. And we start off with…
Howard Jones, LB, Shepherd
40 Speed: 4.45
2013 Stats: 32 tackles, 11.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks
Predicted Round: 5
CBS Sports Position Rank: 15
Cowboys Analysis: Jones is an interesting developmental project. He shows great athletic ability and excellent speed but lacks awareness. Soft Spoken personality like DeMarcus Ware, but lacks his mean streak. Jones was the first player from Shepard to receive an NFL Combine invite. He is the schools career sack record holder with 34.5. Jones will need to make an immediate impact on special teams as he’s likely two years away. Cowboys obviously intrigued as Jones was one of the thirty the Cowboys brought in for an official visit. Dallas certainly has a need at the linebacker position as starters Justin Durant and Bruce Carter are both in their final contract year.
