Is Will Sutton A Better Value Than Aaron Donald For The Dallas Cowboys?

That’s a pretty bold question. Aaron Donald is considered a can’t miss prospect who looks like he is a lock to go in the top 15 of the NFL Draft. Will Sutton on the other hand, has had his draft day value fluctuate between late in the first to possibly a day three pick. If you were just watching Will Sutton’s 2012 tape, we would be arguing right now about who is better prospect; Aaron Donald or Will Sutton?

But after Arizona State asked Sutton to gain weight in 2013 which resulted in a sub-par year, Sutton made matters worse with a poor showing at the NFL Combine. Sutton currently weighs about 285 pounds, which was his playing weight in 2012, but what do you do with this player? His 2012 tape was so much different than 2013 that you feel like you are watching a totally different player. Where do you draft Sutton? What position suites him best in the NFL? What player are you drafting? These are all questions that NFL teams must ask themselves. The question I am asking today is this: Would you rather have Aaron Donald in the top 15 or Will Sutton in the 2nd or 3rd round?

    Donald,Hageman,,Sutton either one w/ a good DE!

  • David

    Nice.

    • Scott.

They are on the hook for Melton in 2015 for 9 million. If they can draft Donald then they can use that 9 million to sign dez and or smith. That could be the thinking.

      • David

        Scott,
Why do you think they let Ware, Ratliff, and Hatcher go. They are not paying age anymore and are investing in their younger impact players.

        • Scott.

Got u, think we are meaning the same thing. Age and big salaries are not recipe for winning.

          • David

Yes we are totally on the same page. I dont even think they will keep Murray. They dont run enough and its been shown many times that teams can get quality backs in the middle rounds or as UDFA’s.

Welcome back David. I think we have enough DTs. 4th round maybe. If we go Safety, OT or LB, it’s 1st or early 2nd. DE or G, 2nd and early 3rd. At least that is were the bulk of the good players are for those spots. There are some good WRs to be found late in the draft as well.

      • David

Thanks Paul. I think you know my stance in the 1st and even 2nd round. They need to draft players that will be 3 down players. Barr maybe a rotaional guy but he would be the only one I would want that probably wont be a 3 down player. But his potential is huge in the sack department. Other than him I say they need to go either FS, OT/OG, LB or maybe and I hope not maybe WR.

I’m glad you are including Shazier. I think if we cannot get Dix or Pryor, Shazier at Will is the next best thing to help our coverage. Prefer a Safety, but we’ll just have to take what the draft gives us. We should be able to get a solid pass rusher in the 2nd round, if they reach for Ealy, I will be livid.

          • David

Id be extremely happy if they landed Barr, Pryor, Dix or Shazier.

They said Donald worth a top 10 pick, to trade up it will cost a 2 and 3rd Pick, Here the trade value sheet which supports what I am saying.. http://www.drafttek.com/tradechart.html

I like Will Sutton over Donald, he back to his weight of 2012, he came down at least 35 lbs.. Remember Sutton team mate was also bash for being in bad shape, last year he was the NFL leading tackler, at Vontase Burfict

It was unfortunate that Sutton lost some explosiveness when he bulk up. Had he keep his weight he might have competed with Donald as one of the top DT’s right now.
