Jadeveon Clowney
Defensive End, South Carolina

Quick Analysis: At this point, I don’t think first-year head coach Bill O’Brien can afford to pass on Clowney and take a risk with one of these top three quarterbacks. His young career would take a major blow if he passed on, what ended up being, the best player in this draft.

Love Dallas getting Barr at 16. There is no way Barr doesn’t start. For one Spencer is not a Pro Bowl DE. Matter of fact he has never playeed DE at the NFL level. He was a Pro Bowl OLB. Second he is coming off major surgery and may not even be ready for training camp. Love the pick in this mock though. Donald/Barr are the only 2 players that you make the pick and don’t shop the pick.

  • jrcowboy49

Barr is a 3-4 OLB and is not suited for a DE position. Wasted pick!

    • PaulTX

Marinelli thought Barr could play DE. I trust his judgment.

    • Phillip

I hear people on ESPN and NFL network say that Barr will be able to play either OLB in a 3-4 or DE in a 4-3, its because he’s got the frame to add 20-25 lbs if need to play DE. It wont matter anyway, Tennessee is gonna be taking him at 11 if he gets there.

  • Don Andrew Halvorson

This is a twisted draft, and I love it. Really dirty picks with no illusion of smokescreen.

  • Guy Smith

If Donald or Barr arent there, and if they can somehow Add another second rounder, the Cowboys can move down get a good player, and still have 3 picks in rounds 2-3 where there will be alot of value, If they select the right players.

Barr run a 4.66 that is slow for a LB. If you want a comparison on player in later rd, we should of taken Bobby Wagner who has 4.42 speed instead of trading up for Mo Claiborne. In two years he has had 260 tackles for the champions Seattle sea hawks.

    • Phillip

How many pass rushing LB’s you know need to run 40 yards to get after the QB?? Anthony Barr runs a solid 40 for an OLB, Clay Matthews 1 of the best pass rushers run 4.67, Aldon Smith, possibly the best pass rusher in the NFL ran a 4.78. You don’t need a 4.4 40 to get after the QB, Anthony Barr has possibly the quickest 1st step in the draft, Sammy Watkins ran 4.43, Barr ran a faster 20 yard shuttle and a faster 3 cone, Ryan Shazier ran 4.38 at his pro day, Barr quicker on the 3 cone and shuttle. Barr is gonna be a beast once he fully develops, he’sgonna be putting up major sack numbers yearly and gonna be 1 of the best sack artists in the NFL.

      • Phillip

And i just now seen Barr was clocked at 4.41 during his pro day. If Dallas wants a pass rusher, this would be the perfect pick for them but with Tennessee switching to a 3-4 D n needing an pass rushing OLB, i don’t see him getting pass them.

  • californy

Here a better player we can get in rd number 2LB Ryan Shazier.

Shazier is at a completely different level athletically. He’s a a player that possesses unique skills. Here are his measurable:

    Height/Weight: 6-1/237
    40-Yard Dash: 4.36 sec. (unofficial)
    Bench Press: 25

Shazier is pound for pound one of the best athletes in this draft. If
that 4.36 seconds in the 40 was run at the Combine, it would have been
the fasted time by a linebacker (by almost half a second) in the past
    nine years.

Some of this is projection. Shazier did’t play a lot of man coverage at
Ohio State. He did, however, thrive in zone coverage and as a blitzer.
Shazier had a Big Ten-leading 143 tackles, 22.5 for a loss. He also had
    six sacks.

    • Phillip

Are you suggesting getting Ryan Shazier in round 2?? If so that’s not gonna happen, he isn’t making it out the 1st round. And if Dallas is looking for a pass rusher you don’t pick Shazier over Barr, Shazier has a faster 40 but not faster 3 cone or shuttle. Barr is gonna be the ultimate pass rusher in this draft.
